Thursday's Tweeting

So, it's been a good day. ::knocks wood:: Dinner was pork, spiced with basil, oregano, salt and pepper,  cooked in garlic cheese spread and white wine. When Kevin eats with his fingers, it's a good sign.

Got out front and redid one of my rosebushes, the pink peace. Pulled all the weeds and grass out, removed the rocks replenished the potting soil, put the weed paper down, re-mulched and put the rocks back down. I need to get more dark rock or river rock. The white marble rock is nice, but it doesn't mix well with what's there. The white bush is next. Going to do one a week due to the amount of trash it creates. Not to mention we need to get a lot of the trash from the building construction out of the yard as well and we only get one can full. Took about an hour to get the pink one done, I expect it will be longer for the Summer Snow since the base area is wider.

The yellow might be harder to get around since there's plenty of insects around it. I refused to lay any poison down there for a lot of reasons. The main two are that I like the salamanders and they could be be poisoned by eating the critters that the stuff is meant for.. and.... if the underground ant colony is disturbed, they are likely to head right into the house. We discovered that it's not the big ants invading from time to time, but teeny ones. Probably better to leave well enough alone since they are content to forage in the trash can.

Had a fine show from nature while I was out there, the dragonflies were in fine form and doing their air ballet.

Friday's to do list:

Put away gardening supplies.
UHBS (laundry, dishes, cooking, etc.) Extra from daily stuff is the fridge clean out.
Tom needs to scrub down his whole bathroom.
Wal-mart: laundry soap, dryer sheets, small box for Explorer trunk, and the river rocks. Maybe something for dinner, I don't know.
Pick up laundry at the cleaners. Can also do that on Saturday.
Want to get some work done on my most recent craft project.
Need to print some pictures and write at least one personal letter.
Need to send a request for a forwarding address to a post office in PA.
