All,

Ian and I will be going to Ashton Court festival this year (both days) and it would be lovely to see you there! They are doing cheaper advance tickets this year at £7 per day (£9 per day on the door), so I'd advise you get your tickets now! I know its gone up a lot from previous years, but its still only £14 for 2 days of fun with friends :)

We hope to see you there... let us know if you plan on going so we can arrange to meet you there :)

Love and hugs
Lorraine & Ian xXx

GET IN EARLY TO BOOK TICKETS FOR FESTIVAL

Details of ticket prices for this year's Orange Ashton Court Festival have been announced.

Tickets for this year's event will go on sale from Bristol Ticket Shop and the Colston Hall on Thursday 1st June.

Due to increased security costs and the implementation of the controversial new licensing laws, we've been forced to increase ticket prices this year.

The cost of running this year's festival has increased by around a third since last year. Because of this, ticket prices will now be £9 on the day, with 14 and under remaining free.

However you can save money by buying tickets in advance from the Bristol Ticket Shop and the Colston Hall. If bought in cash before the 10th July, tickets will cost just £7 per day, although after this date they will be subject to a booking fee. You can also get hold of a free programme if you buy tickets for both days in advance.

A number of unavoidable factors, including the new licensing laws and inflation, have been cited as the reasons for the increase.

Steve Hunt, one of the festival organisers, said: "We were extremely reluctant to make any increase in ticket prices, but various changes to the law have left us with no alternative. Almost two thirds of the festival's income is derived from entrance fees and it is extremely important we get support from people through the gates."

The new licensing act, which came into effect last year, now costs the festival around £16,000 compared to just £1,000 for 2005.

A figure of around £45,000 has also been added to the costs of the festival to cover extra security costs. Industry inflation is also running ahead of normal inflation, which means general costs are up. This means the cost of running the festival this year is around £600,000 - around £150,000 more than last year.

Steve added: "Although the costs have increased, people are still getting fantastic value for money compared to similar festivals. A weekend at Ashton Court with over 150 acts performing will cost people just £14, compared to somewhere like Glastonbury, which is over one hundred pounds more than that.

It is actually 10 years since the festival was free and unfortunately these days, it is just not possible to sustain the festival of this size and diversity purely on sponsorship, stalls and other minor incomes. The festival does not receive any grants from the council and it is essential it charges these entrance fees to remain completely independent."
