"What the fuck does he know?” Dean began to dismantle and clean his gun with jerky motions.
"Sure, maybe he’s me,” He muttered, “but that guy was infected, dammit. I just did what I had to do."
The man Dean shot had been a friend. To his past self he was dispassionate, cruel. Broken. Well, maybe he was, maybe he wasn’t.
Despite what anyone thought, Dean cared. Maybe he didn’t show it, but he did. And he remembered the names of everyone he had failed, everyone who had died because of him.
And the weight of it was killing him.
