I had a good day, till I came home of course...
I went to GG Park to enjoy the sunny day and do some thinking. I have another paper coming up in early March and its time to figure out what the paper will be about. Anyway, I came up with a lot of good ideas for my meeting with my advisor tomorrow.
Afterwards I met up with Luke for some food and chatting. I had not seen him in a while and it was good to catch up.
While in the city I picked up a keyboard drawer and a MS natural keyboard for home.
So far everything is going well...
I get home, start my laundry, and begin to install my keyboard drawer. Once I get the drawer screwed in, unpack the keyboard, etc, I plug it into my laptop via the PS2 port. No luck, reboot, lights on keyboard blink, but no luck. Finally I try the USB interface, it works. Of course I only have 1 USB port and 2 devices... math says I have a problem. I guess I need a USB hub now.
Anyway, once I figure that stuff out, I get a warning that my router is down. After a little investigating, the ethernet card in my linux box is reporting too many interrupts... a hardware failure. I had this problem once before and a cold boot solved it, so I tried that. No luck. Switched the PCI slot and it worked again. But my guess is it won't work for long. So a quick recap, last week the power supply failed, then my HD starts complaining, and now the ethernet card is going. Is it me or is my computer trying to tell me something?
On a side note, I'm about to kill the people at CUSG (the EECS IT group). They completely fucked up my campus machine. I think I'm lucky it still can tell me the time of day (in UTC, it doesn't understand PST yet).
