Sometimes the most painful thing to see in others is potential ... because therein lies so much HOPE.
I visited former students for dinner and drinks tonight (yeah, they're all legal now, so that makes me ... well, old, I guess), and watching a generation of twenties go through the same shit, the same pain, and make the same mistakes as I did is ... painful.
I have one thing to say to them, and I quote a former colleague of mine who shared this piece of wisdom with me on my 27th birthday: If you wish for anything, wish for 28. Twenty-eight, I asked, confused. Twenty-eight, she said, because every year gets better.
Hear, hear.
And profound gratitude to the powers that be that she was, indeed, correct.
