I spent most of the year in the office entering prints into the AFIS system and searching for the "bad guys". It's a marked change from working in the field. I didn't even see one dead body in 2011. Of course that doesn't mean there weren't any homicides; it's just that I don't get to see them anymore. I'm ok with that! I've been polishing my game up so to speak and getting ready to test for certification as a Latent Print Examiner. I am a little behind in reaching that goal, but have spent the last year with that target in my sights. I am close to achieving it now. I hope to put that certification to work by publishing some articles on fingerprint studies. I still have a lot of work to do in that area, but that's the direction my career is taking me. Perhaps in the not too distant future I will be lecturing and teaching other examiners across the nation.
