[Admin] Elimination of Non-Participatory Members

Jul 20, 2006 13:21

There was a test.

If you're still here, you passed.

As we agreed when we had our last sound-off, this comm works best as an intimate, active, involved place. Somewhere sharing is encouraged and rewarded. I didn't want to continue turning down interested (and interesting!) applicants to save room for deadwood, and commenting 'hi' on a sound-off every six months isn't what I'd call activity.

So I scoured every single community entry for the last two months. Every request for info, every bunny, every link, every "so-and-so beta'd this" credit, every comment string, even those that weren't on yeahchemical. Every time someone gave someone else a picture, or answered a question, or wrote a drabble, or said "Attaboy!" or "Woo MCR!", or showed any evidence of participation in the community, I made a note of their name on a safelist.

Everybody else--and there were about fifty-five everybody elses--got cut.

I had to comb a lot of entries, so it's possible I missed something. If you feel you were cut unfairly, please link or detail a time when, in the last two months, you contributed to the activities of yeahchemical. If special circumstances apply (you had a long-term illness, unavoidable technology outage, or crisis of some kind, you changed your journal name and I missed it, you joined with both a writing journal and your personal journal and I cut the wrong one, if you feel I just clicked the wrong button, etc.), let me know and we'll talk.

ETA: The membership cap is still 100, but we have a lot of room now before we top it. If you're requesting membership for the first time, please read the userinfo. I'll apply the same standards I always did for acceptance. If you're requesting membership because you were cut, either have the courtesy to talk to me first or the brains to change your username.

Son of ETA: If you want an unlocked post in which to reply, try my journal.
