getting a job in canada:
1) British Columbia minimum wage = 8 dollars, unless you can't document having worked 500 hours, in which case it's 6. i have not received the majority of my pay stubs, so i have no idea how i would do this (or how many hours i've actually worked)
2) also, in order to apply for a work permit, i have to already have a job offer
3) for foreign students: "You must come to Canada with enough money to live and pay your bills while you are studying, without needing to work. In certain situations, you may be able to work while you are studying." in fact, this whole page depresses me
