Winning the sympathies of the majority of the population should not be une idée fixe for Russian democrats, says Lolita Tsaria, the leader of Moscow's branch of the United Civic Front, the opposition movement led Garry Kasparov. Now that the mass media and courts are controlled by the state and elections are unfree, it is impossible. But democrats must be organised and prepared for the inevitable collapse of the current regime. If the masses see that the opposition is a cohesive and determined movement, ready to take the responsibility for the country's destiny, they will join it.

На первый взгляд, тезис о необходимости борьбы за большинство кажется бесспорным. Оппозиция должна стремиться найти как можно больше сторонников из самых разных социальных групп. Однако лидер московского ОГФ Лолита Цария уверена, что завоевание большинства не должно сделаться идеей фикс оппозиции.
