My life (weeks 29-30)

Here is a summary the past fortnight.

I have received a letter of admission to one more university - Uppsala University in Sweden, for the master programme in the Swedish language. Now I must decide where I am going to study.

I have gone to court about the money, which a Russian bank (Rossiysky Kredit) has been refusing to return me for more than 10 years. The hearing was unsuccessful. The judge may have been bribed.

In Moscow I have met again my former fellow student Mikhail. I brought him berries from our family's garden. We talked and then went to the Library of Foreign Literature.

I had not been in this library for six years, since my emigration, but before I had gone there frequently. Now it has a Dutch and a Canadian education advising centres. The Internet has become free, the food in the canteen more varied, but expensive.

I continued to study German and have come to lesson 14. Next week I am going to finish this textbook.

I have read a book of short stories and essays by Henri Troyat in French.

As for films, I've seen several documentaries on the actors and the making of the film Gone with the Wind. I especially liked the story of Olivia de Havilland, who played the role of Melanie. She is still alive, beautiful, and she is a good story-teller too!

I have also re-seen three old but excellent films: two Soviet ones, Beg (The Flight) and Tchaikovsky, and one American, Spartacus.
