An unexpected holiday

Nov 01, 2008 15:55

Забыл, что сегодня праздник и пошел за продуктами в город, до которого 4 км. Открыта только одна забегаловка R-Киоск, где минимум нормальной еды и безбожные цены. Завтра придется идти снова.

Today is a holiday in Finland - All Saint's day. I did not know about that and went to town to buy food, because I all my food had finished - excepts carrots and tea.

After walking and running for 40 minutes I reached the centre, but everything was closed. The only open place was R-Kioski. It is a convenience shop, similar to Couche-Tard in Quebec, that sells mainly junk food, cigarettes and magazines. The food is rather overpriced. I bought a litre of milk (1.25 euro), a small can of tuna fish (1.40), instant noodles and salted peanuts. This will sustain me for today, and I can also eat apples from the school garden. Tomorrow I will go the centre again - the shops will be open.

The rest of the time I have studied Finnish and watched TV5 Monde.
