The Governer General's guards saluted the Prime Minister yesterday during Canada Day festivities. This is wrong. The Prime Minister is not the head of Canada's military, despite what Steve would like. A reporter noticed this and wrote a story about how Steve is behaving like a president. and there is video of a cabinet minister making clear Steve asked to be saluted. Video.

Why should we care? One of the incredible things we have in this country is a governer general, who isn't an elected politician that might, say, use our troops and imagery connecting them with the troops to further political aims. The governer general is the commander in chief of Canada's Armed Forces, it's HER platform unless the Queen is in town, and for Stevie to take that is wrecking one of the few things we could be pleased about how the government handles itself.

Now accepting suggestions for nicknames for Stevie.
Tinpot Stevie?
Steve: King of Nothing?

fucking bullshit, military, politics
