Jolly Yuletide, Spectacular Saturnalia, Shab-e Yalda Mubarak, Merry Christmas, Möllöisää joulua!

I sent out fewer Christmas cards this year, but I want you all to know that even if I didn't send you a paper version, I'm thinking of you and thank you for all the greetings you've sent me.

(Btw. The pictures in this card were taken on 1st of January this year.)

It's sometimes easy to make me feel really good about life. All it takes is the first day of vacation (well, that's not exactly an easy achievement, but hey, it's pretty darn great all the same), a fun dream, a sparkling clean car, a few text messages and Season's Greetings. I'm feeling all jolly and happy and (yes, here it comes) cheerful!

The dream I had was really quite brilliant. There was an event that somehow reminded a mix between a Finncon, a Fantasy Feast and some sort of general camping trip. Sting was a GoH. The organisers of the said event, however, failed to provide him (and his wife, apparently) a proper place to sleep. He was pointed a poor sofabed and the poor musician was freezing under his thin blanket, seeming utterly miserable but yet polite enough not to say anything. Well, yours truly noticed the problem and at first took him some extra blankets which he accepted happily. Then I started heading home (which included rather strenuous hiking in the woods and across streams and climbing some rocks), but after about 2km (!!) of it, I realised I had to do something more. Hiked back to the campsite (or whatever it was) and told Sting and his wife that they'd be more than welcome to come over and sleep in my bed. Without me in it, naturally. Sting: "But where will you sleep, then?" Me: "No matter, I can sleep anywhere." After this discussion they were thrilled about the offer and accepted it immediately. The organisers of the event were also happy. And I was ridiculously happy about getting to know Sting.

Yes, I think I may have listened to his music a tad too much. Hehee. But oh well, nothing beats the feeling of waking up with a smile on my face.

In addition, today and tomorrow will be exactly what I expect of this time of the year. Meeting friends, enjoying a hot cup of mulled wine (or coffee) and a chat with them, preparing for a nice family Christmas little by little (I've yet some cleaning and baking to do, but I'm not stressing about it at all)... This is how I like my Holidays. Sure, there could be Someone to share it with, but as it is, I'm enjoying this. And I can't wait to see my niece getting all her gifts. It's going to be so cute and so much fun.

So there you go. A jolly nice sprinkling of cheerfulness from me to all of you. Love you all.
