As July approaches, I've got a few decisions to make. Mostly concerning stuff I'd like to do on the remainder of my vacation.
First of all, there's the small question of Ruisrock next weekend. I had decided earlier not to go on Friday, since I just saw Nightwish last Thursday in Helsinki. And now I've changed my mind. I do want to see them again. My problem is this - should I buy a two day ticket for Friday and Saturday? That way I'd also see HIM on Saturday, which was kinda my original plan anyhow. To try and see HIM live for the first time. Hmm. Anyone else going on Saturday? It'd be nice to have company, if I decide to go on Saturday, too.
Second problem is a bit more complicated. There's Finncon. And a promise to visit a friend in Seinäjoki the week before Finncon. And then there's the christening of my niece in Lahti on Finncon Saturday. Three points on the map, not very conveniently located, either. The whole trip would be somewhere around 1000km of driving back and forth. With these gas prices and no one sharing the costs. Hmm.
On the other hand, there's the fact that I'm not travelling abroad this summer and could perhaps therefore afford some travelling in Finland. And it'd be fun, too. But on the other hand, alas, I do need to buy a new set of tires for the car (several hundred euros - bye, bye!) and then there's the annual maintenance of the said car due next week (another several hundred euros - bye, bye!). Hmm.
Well, perhaps I need to call my friend in Seinäjoki. I suppose she'll understand if I can't afford a trip to her place now, because there'll be her wedding to attend to in September anyway. Eliminating Seinäjoki from the route map would then make it easier to first drive to Lahti for the christening on Finncon Saturday and then in the evening drive to Tampere, where I already have a hotel room booked. I could then spend Sunday in Finncon, drive home that night and be ready for other stuff in Turku on Monday.
Gaahh. Too much to do, not enough time and not nearly enough money to do it. Darnit.
Oh well, I guess I just need to call my friend and cancel the trip to her place. The money I could've used for that will have to be used to pay for the new tires. Can't drive with a set of four completely smooth ones anyhow.
So there. I think I've now managed to clear my thoughts a bit. (Except for the Ruisrock problem.) Thanks for reading, if you made it this far. ;) It's nice how writing stuff out will often clear things up.
Next year, I'd like to head to Ireland or Scotland. Haven't yet decided which. That's a whole different problem. But a longer trip abroad will very effectively solve all my other travel related problems for that summer. There won't be any travelling anywhere else. Simple as that.
Luckily my problems at the moment aren't very serious. :)
