So I totally forgot to size my chapter pic before adding it on Photobucket >__>;

Nevertheless, I have the...8th? installment of You're My Worst Nightmare. Not much has changed but things do happen-comedic things if you want to see it that way.

Also, I'm not completely content with the chapter pic. I couldn't find good ones of Kao or Totchi, nor enough help from the chapter for an inspiration. Like I said, not too much happens plotwise.

Enjoy

You're My Worst Nightmare

Taken Seriously

Silence.

Toshiya refused to speak another word, Kaoru was resolute not to back up his bassist's accusation, and Die sat speechless. He knew from his previous conversation with Toshiya that Kaoru indeed had gone 'bonkers,' however, exclaiming their leader's complete loss of...of everything kicked Die mentally down a flight of stairs.

It wasn't until Kaoru sniffed and rubbed his nose that the redhead decided to talk. He turned to Toshiya, after all, he did happen to be the one most suited to answer. "Kaoru's not just dropped the teakettle...has he?" He bent forward to reach a better level of communication with the very dirty blonde.

"I'm still here ya know," Kaoru growled. Die shot him a glare.

Finally, the tallest of the three rejoined the conversation. His soft voice barely touched Die's ear, "....he doesn't remember me."

Die still couldn't fully grasp what was wrong-and so he leaned closer-but at least little pieces started stacking up. It seemed like Toshiya wanted to say more, he kept silent just in case.

"....He thinks it's the 90's."

Kaoru scoffed, folding his arms in front of his chest, one foot extended forward and tapping on the floor in annoyance. He received another glare from Die and sent it right back.

It slowly became a little easier to talk with each statement, the pauses between sentences shrank more and more. "He didn't even recognize Kyo." Toshiya gulped down a heavy breath. "He...Kaoru completely mistook his things for mine in our place. How does that happen, Die?" Sweet and gorgeous eyes pleaded up at the guitarist for any sort of answer. The desperate look tried conveying all the confusion and strife, guilt and pain Toshiya had been juggling with since he woke up that morning not more than three hours ago. He hoped Die would understand like the concerned friend he was.

The response nevertheless was not as expected, it more like jolted Toshiya from his near emotional wreck, and brought a displeased frown to Kaoru's lips. Die burst into laughter as his response. His face lit up, loosening the weight off his shoulders while lightening his mood and broadening his field of understanding-sorta.

"Let me get this right," the duel haired guitarist started amidst spurts of giggles- he had to refrain from glancing at his leader or else he'd never calm down, "Leader-sama here is Bachikankyuun again?" Die rolled back into his couch laughing.

Toshiya of course pouted and Kaoru 'harumphed.' It wasn't all fun and games to the bassist, he had been affected much more seriously than his partly sanguine haired friend, but... Die wasn't angry anymore. Thank the guy's lighthearted and easily forgiving personality. Now to keep Kaoru from starting any fights, after all, he was the logical one-even back in the old days when they were all young- and as such, wasn't normally the type to lose his cool enough to throw the first punch-unlike Die just did.

"It's not funny, Die. He's...he's been..."

"A real asshole!" the redhead chortled; he couldn't get over it, powerless against the hilarity. One finger remained in the air pointing. "Ohmygodohmygod! Kaoru! How old am I? Dude, what album are we on!?"

"Die, that's not helping," Toshiya exasperated a laden sigh, he couldn't look at his leader or reproach his fellow bandmate: he was unsure how to straighten the situation. One small misstep and either one could blow up again, maybe taking down the house with them. For all their sakes, Toshiya prayed nothing of the sort happened.

"I've got an idea. Why don't you shut up and get real, oh, and since Toshiya here is so obsessed about it... Yeah, we released Me...mero uh... whatever the fuck that album is called!"

That triggered it. Die lost all control and roared out tremendous laughter, falling onto his side on the couch, hugging a throwpillow to his chest. "It's like a soap opera!! Toshiya.... start weeping and profess your love for him. Kao'll be all," and for this, Die sat up as best he could and held out his arms as if he were confused and didn't know what to do, "'I has amnesia...how does I played guitar?'" More roars of laughter ensued and he fell back onto his side. "Quick! Kaoru, play Disabled Complexes!"

"Die! Please!"

Throughout Die's entire gigglefest, Dir en grey's leader stood glowering silently , abhorring his guitarist's new take on these circumstances. He couldn't tell if Die had been in on Toshiya's...whatever this was, but right now he knew Die was not amusing- not at all.

Kaoru kicked the base of Die's couch before swiveling around and heading for the front door; he needed to be alone, or at least away from that idiot. It was really hard to tell if Die was in on this charade, he didn't act involved in it. Knowing Die-for as long as they had been in La:Sadies and those glorious first 2 years of Dir en grey-he couldn't keep a secret and would have giggled from the very beginning. He also didn't seem the type to launch an attack, the guy was too easygoing.

Ok maybe he wasn't in on it. So what? Still didn't change anything, Die believed that lying dick and that was worse. Or had Kaoru really dropped his teakettle and caused everything to flip backwards. No. Leaders of recently successful bands did not drop kitchenware; they were stable and dependable, Kaoru could not afford losing his cool. All he needed was a breather, no big deal.

"Great going, Asswipe. What are we going to do if Kaoru gets lost and causes a scene downtown? Huh? You want everybody to know our leader's gone senile in his 'old age' ?" The folded arms, stuck out hip, and lowered chin with eyes glaring intensely did not make Toshiya look pleased. In fact, he was pissed off. They had an after tour brush up a few hours from now and Kaoru would be in the wrong studio, would be on the wrong tour unless both the remaining guitarists quarantined their leader from leaving their sights.

Toshiya ran after his lover, forwarding an irritated glance toward the troublemaker causing this stormoff. He caught up as his leader stopped to cross the road. "Kaoru, wait!" A firm hand grasped the baggy shirt, pulling Kaoru from the curb and closer to Toshiya. He clung to Kaoru's T-shirt with an outward force driven by an inward fear, a fear that once his lover crossed that street the old Kaoru he knew would never return, forever stuck as a twenty three year old Niikura, Kaoru-his bandmate and nothing more.

Kaoru turned to face his bassist-though not in a happy fashion-forcing him to lock eyes with his sharp stare. "What?" he asked gruffly, it squeezed Toshiya's heart; such bitter treatment he had never been objected to. When Toshiya did not answer he narrowed his eyes impatiently.

"I uh... Don't leave. If I prove it...will you believe me?"

It was a long shot, a very long shot but it was all Toshiya possessed. If Kaoru wasn't even willing to hear the bassist out no hope remained, and holding onto him deemed fruitless- just let go and watch him cross that street. He couldn't force his lover to come back to him, it was too cruel. And, enforced love was not love at all; it hurt the dirty blonde deeply thinking about it.

"Prove what? That you're causing a big riff in the band? That I'm getting second thoughts keeping you as Dir en grey's bassist? You said yourself you wanted out. Well, what is it?"

"I... No, no," All the harsh tones and even harsher words were tearing at Toshiya's strong will and fragile heart, "if I... I just want to show you my reality. I need to show you my truth." He chose his words carefully, who knew how this Kaoru would react- one word could mean entirely different with this complicated perspective. It took everything in himself to stand tall in front of the one man he truly loved and bare the brunt of a glacial stranger.

"Really? Haven't you already done that enough this morning? It was bad enough you lied to me, but bringing the whole band into this? Aren't you going a little too far, I mean... Who honestly cuts their hair and dyes it for one stupid joke?"

Kaoru couldn't really back up his words completely, he wasn't even sure he believed them himself; they resounded back in his head teasingly, daring him to answer who would go so far? Maybe what the semi flaxen haired male said wasn't all truth but Die did look completely different and didn't seem to be in on whatever Toshiya created, and all those things in that large house. Weren't pictures proof enough Toshiya told the truth? Toshiya's truth. So bizarre and unbelievable; the hard-headed guitarist could not give in so easily.

A burdensome sigh pilfered out of the shaggy brunette's lungs, sagging his body and presenting him older than he was, older than he felt.

"Ok. Go ahead and show me your 'truth.' It beats going back to bed and waking up to a grumpy, ugly old man growling at you."

"Really!? You mean it? You'll listen to me?" Excitement raced through Toshiya's limps, keeping him from standing still. His eyes brightened and his normal buoyant mood resurfaced. Kaoru wasn't going to cross that street, he wasn't going to drift away and never return. Hope glinted and invigorated Toshiya's bruised heart: now if only the stubborn guitarist would take him seriously, that's all he hoped for.
