Five Tigers - Part 2 (mainly Michael Miu)

Please let me share Michael and Barbara's lovely and wonderful chemistry in The New Adventures of Chor Lau Heung (1984)! A 13-min compilation of my fav moments between Chor Lau-heung (Michael Miu) and Song Siu-ching (Barbara Yung).

DL: Chor Lau-heung & Song Siu-ching's Romance

So, basically the story is about Chor Lau-heung's adventures accompanied by his three girlfriends, and then he picked up two more girlfriends on the way, rounding up a total of five lovers he got, by the end of the series, LOLOL. No, really... I like his three girlfriends: So Yung-yung, skilled in disguise; Sung Tim-yee, good at cooking; Lei Hung-sau, good at medicine. My fav among the three is Tim-yee cos she's not afraid to speak up her mind. And then he met Wah Chan-chan, a disciple of the Huashan sect, who had unrequited love for Chor Lau-heung and I guess CLH cares about her out of pity. Last but not least, the lady CLH loves the most in this series is of course, the female lead, Song Siu-ching. I can't help but find similarities between Chor Lau-heung & his five girlfriends with Wai Siu Bo & his seven wives, lol. I find it so amusing when the girlfriends/wives being so nice to each other. Like when Siu-ching and Miss Wah were supporting each other on their romance with Chor Lau-heung "You like Chor-daigor, don't you?" "Yes, but he loves you" "I'm not sure about that anymore now... He's definitely nicer to you..." For real, girls??? hahaaa... I also enjoyed Siu-ching and Hung-sau/Tim-yee's light bickerings. I like the fact Chor Lau-heung's girlfriends bickers playfully daily, but get along and work well together in critical times. I prefer this kind of ridiculous love stories (in wuxia) compared to love stories like Yang Guo and all the broken-hearted ladies around him and everything was dramatized XD One man having many girlfriends/wives and they all get along well with each other, can only happen in wuxia and I find it so interesting cos it's impossible to happen in real life, lol... and I really cannot complain if the guy is as a hunk as Michael Miu, lol.
After rewatching "Chor Lau Heung", my final verdict is, I really prefer Jin Yong's stories. CLH is just solving mysteries and none of the stories really related to his own life or background, so the character lacks emotional moments. But maybe the book is better cos I heard this series is only half true to the novel. However, all the young main cast has wonderful chemistry! I love Chor Lau-heung and his male buddy, Woo Tit-fa's friendship, they're really good buddies and their conversations are always a pleasure to watch. Woo provides the comedic scenes most of the time. Simon Yam played the villain in disguise in this series. Simon Yam and Michael Miu worked together again in a 2010 film "Black Ransom" this time Simon as the good guy and Michael as the bad guy, hahaa... need to see that one.

Next, "Gun Metal Grey", Michael Miu and Felix Wong's reunion after 24 years. I started watching this just because it's a Michael-Felix' drama, I just wanted to check it out, expecting I'd drop it after three episodes. To my surprise, this series surpassed my expectation (maybe I had no expectation at all). It's a police drama, y'know. In the Japanese drama world, I really have enough of police detective dramas, coz the same pattern is always repeated and it's getting tiring to see the same thing again. So I thought... urgh... Hongkong police drama. But then, I realized I totally forgot Hongkong is an action film industry, I was amazed with the awesome action scenes in this drama! Michael and Felix did some of the dangerous stunts themselves and I was taken aback. Then, it got to me... oh, right! This was what Hongkong stuff look like! haha... its been so long since I saw Hongkong stuff and I got too used with Japanese lame action scenes, that even standard Hongkong action scenes made my jaw dropped LOL. To think of it, these action scenes are nothing compared to Jackie Chan's stunts, but still, they're awesome to see. (I rarely get good, decent action stuff in J-dramas, the Japanese prioritizes safety too much, that makes the action scenes too mild compared to other countries' action stuff)

The script is very well-written too. And it's not just about Michael and Felix' solving crime cases, but there's also the big plot that involves Michael and Felix personally, and this big plot is very intriguing. Michael and Felix are partners and yet Felix and the audience were brought to believe that Michael is the bad guy and he's so suspicious, but toward the end, Felix became so creepy and Michael slowly becoming the hero of the story, I totally didn't see that coming!
I absolutely love Michael's character here. Funny, carefree, happy-go-lucky kinda guy. I'm surprised that his romance with the female reporter/journalist, is nicely written too! Jessica Hsuan is the female lead, and my only complain abt her is her afro hair haha, other than that she's a good actress who performs natural acting and the character is quite lovable too. There was a brief love triangle between Felix, Jessica and Michael, but I'm glad they didn't drag on that and quickly resolved it. I love Michael and Jessica's scenes together. I mean, Jessica is about 15 years younger than Michael, but the script is written very well, that I can ignore their age difference after awhile. The part when they were locked inside the freezer truck was very funny and sweet, Michael being the gentleman gave her his jacket, but then she asked him to lend his back too after awhile not standing the cold and Michael went "What? I gave you my jacket already, you still wanna hug my back? Who am I gonna hug then?" but lent his back anyway. Then Michael suggested "We better take off our clothes?" and Jessica went "What? nonono... you mean you want us to warm ourselves with each other's bodies like in those movies? Nononono!!" hahaha... when Michael suggested that I thought it was so cliche, thank god Jessica did refer that it was done too much in movies already mhahahaa... then Michael thought of a way to get out without having to take off their clothes haha, good. I also like the fact that Jessica rent her own flat to Michael and she became his landlady, and their romance started from there. All their bickerings were funny. I can't believe they still let Michael to do these bickering scenes with his love interest character at the age of 50 years old! And he pulled it off so well! Omg, he was soooo good and natural in the romantic scenes, I didn't find them awkward at all! Michael can still do romantic stuff really good!
For me who got used with 11 episode J-drama pace, I'm surprised I didn't skip much of the 30 episodes, the pace is really good, it didn't drag on unnecessary stuff (like Taiwanese dramas I've seen). Overall, it's really a good drama and such a pleasant surprise! The crime cases makes sense and it's exciting to watch them trying to solve the cases. I think I read somewhere that all the cases in this drama were based on true crime cases in Hongkong.
"Gun Metal Grey" was critically praised and achieved high ratings too. It's really amazing that "Tigers" reunion never fails. You can watch all 30 episodes in English subs here: http://www.dramaftw.tv/drama/gun-metal-grey/

Meanwhile, this is Michael Miu and Sheren Tang (Zhou Zhiruo in Tony Leung's HSDS 1986) pairing in "The Drive of Life" a 2007 drama about the life of three brothers (incl. Michael Miu) who own big-scale family business. Omg, their romantic scenes are so cute!! I can't believe Michael is 48 in this drama, he looks so young and why is he so good at romantic scenes???

Michael and Sheren played a couple, got married but then got a divorce because Michael's character is a player and Sheren caught him flirting with so many ladies, lol... GO Michael!

I'm really amazed that Michael Miu's charm, charisma and onscreen presence has not worn off even a bit, on the contrary, I think he's even more handsome the more he aged. He made a comeback to TVB at 46 years old. Don't you think some actors fades away from the ent. world after 46? But Michael made a new start instead. And what's even more amazing, he gained his fanbase back and after a few supporting roles in the first 1-2 years, the market started demand him to play leading roles. Last year, the drama where he played as the lead "Line Walker" a drama about undercover cops was a big success and very popular in a few Asian countries, it has won many TV awards. Unbelievable!

His roles since he made his comeback in 2004, were mostly single (some of his characters are divorcee), having romantic interest/girlfriends played by actresses 15-20 years younger than him, with kissing scenes and some bed scenes. The Hongkong TV industry totally still treat him like an idol! At this rate, I believe he'd get romantic roles even when he turns 65 lol!

To be honest, I'm a bit worried about SMAP's acting career from now on... won't it be hard for them to take romantic roles when they hit 50? What kinda roles will they get after 50? I'm worrying if SMAP is going to expire in another five years, lol. But Michael Miu proves that "once an idol, forever an idol" hahaha... observing Michael's acting career, regained my faith in SMAP's acting career. Now I can imagine them in romantic roles even at 55 years of age, thanks to Michael! LOL!

This is Michael, Kent and Felix in Andy Lau's live concert in 2007, I think. Seems like Andy told Michael to do "Chok" (cantonese for 'acting cool and handsome')...and the crowd went crazy hahaaa.... yup, he still got it!

I love to see the "Tigers" seems to have so much fun when they're together.

This is press conference for "Brothers" (2007). Can anyone tell me what Kent Tong says here, I wanna knowwww, cause Felix kept laughing. haha I feel so powerless watching Chinese stuff, can't understand a word without subs XD

And this is from the 28th Anniversary of "Legend of Condor Heroes 1983", I love Felix' entrance and he did "chok"! hahaa........  Both Felix and Michael are so handsome here! It's funny when they asked him to make Guo Jing's expression and he made that dumb look mhahahaaa.... They also asked him to perform the 18 Dragon Palms lololol...why does it look like Kamehameha? XD
