Just watched the live show here, in Jakarta, last Friday. Ahhhhhh.... still feeling the euphoria. They're still awesome! *v*

When I was 13-14, I was a mega fan of the Backstreet Boys, haha. (who wasn't??) As for NKOTB, I was only 4-5 years old, in their era, so I don't know much about them. But seem like my brothers played their cassette tapes over and over, so I know the songs and lyrics before I realized it XD

My fav BBoy was Brian (my teenhood dream was to marry him, lol!), he still is and I think, will always be. It has been a very long time since I'm not a fan of BSB. I think since 2000. Then, it was announced that NKOTBSB will come to Jakarta, and my friends went all excited about it, so somehow I got carried away with the atmosphere and bought the ticket too. I was wondering if I can still feel excited about them, coz I really have no feelings for them anymore, not even Brian. But oh well, I just want to hang out with my Smappy girls (yes!! I went to NKOTBSB concert with Smappies! LOL! ), just have a fun girls night out =P

But then, the night before, to refresh my memory of their songs again, I watched their clips on YouTube and I got quite excited and really looking forward to see the guys. This would be my very first time watching BSB live ^v^

It was really interesting to see the audience coz they must be (including me) around 30s now and some of them bring along their children together, heehee. But when the gate was opened, omg, I don't think we're any different than the SuJu's fans, mwahahaha!

I bought the GOLD ticket (seats), so I was pretty far from the stage =(  But I brought my binoculars with me XD

The lights were out and they showed images of NKOTBSB on the big screen. The screen dropped to the floor revealing the 9 gorgeous men, standing on the stage's stairs. They opened the show with Coldplay's Viva La Vida, Joey was the first one to sing. And OMG! Yes, there he is, BRIAN, right behind Joey! Kyaaaa.... Briaaaaannn.... you haven't changed!
Then it was a mix of NKOTB's Single and BSB's The One.

I felt weird and awesome at the same time. Everytime I heard BSB's song, I felt like 13 again. And everytime it's NKOTB's turn, I felt 5 years old all over again ^v^   Really nice feeling! To my amazement, I don't remember I ever memorize and sing NKOTB's songs, but apparently I DO memorize the lyrics and can sing along together! Unbelievable! Just how much my brothers played their songs in the house, back then?? XD
I've decided... my favorite Kid is DONNIE!!^v^    The way he ripped his shirt and revealed those abs (oh dear God, help)... and also I think it's sweet and adorable he memorized alot of Indonesian words for us^^   There was this middle-aged man, abt 45-50 yrs old? I was wondering whom he accompanied to? His wife? Daughter? But I didn't see him talking to anyone. And everytime Donnie screamed "Aku cinta kamu! (I love you)", that middle-aged men got excited and throw his both arms to the air. Hahahaha.... what an amusing scene. Don't tell me... he's a fan of NKOTB himself?? Actually, yeah, I think NKOTB had many male fans back in the day, coz they were the first boyband group and they had no competitor, right? I mean, I was surprised that my older brothers were very enthusiastic in asking me "How was the concert?" and they were actually searching the YouTube clips too, and checking out the news, asking me how was Joey? How was Jordan? So they WERE fans of NKOTB, haha! They were just too embarrassed to admit it, lol.

Then comes the "I'll Never Break Your Heart" part. Brian practically CARRIED one of the girl/fan/audience to her seat!!!! And in the middle of the song, that girl was switching on her cellphone camera and Brian decided to help her to take the picture of them together. OMG! I could've died on the spot to see that moment!!! Arggghhh.... my love for him came back and I regretted it so much that I didn't buy the festival(standing) ticket!!! XD

I didn't see this myself during the live, but Nick noticed an interesting written cardboard, saying "I'm pregnant and I'm craving for you, Mr. Littrell" he told Brian and pointed at it, haha...

My friends who were standing in the festival area, said Brian came to their area alot and were joking with them. Huhuhuhuhu.... dammit.... T_T

Love it during "I Want It That Way" that when the whole stadium sing along together with him in chorus, Brian just stopped singing after "You are my fire" and said "You sing" while turning his mic backward to the audience direction. And we just sang for him till "I want it that way" part right before Nick's part.
I think it was pretty obvious that BSB's fans were outnumbered by NKOTB's fans since the beginning of the show. So I was very surprised, when the whole 10,000 people actually sang IWITW together in chorus and in tune. But I guess IWITW was a very big hit huh.

In the encore segment, they all wore Batik shirts... aww, they looked like the middle-aged men employees in the government offices, hahaha.

The 9 men were AWESOME. They really don't need backdancers, do they? Oh well, the stage was not that wide anyway. The new concert hall in Ancol where they performed was promised to have spectacular stuff that would suit foreign artists, but I didn't see anything close to the experience I had with Tokyo Dome's SMAP. Great lights, but that was all. I was hoping they would ride on the cranes to get close to the audience on the 2nd floor, but it didn't happen -_-

But really awesome performance by the 9 guys. They are true singers and entertainers! But I'm missing Kevin =(   Hopefully, I can see 10-men NKOTBSB someday (just through TV/Youtube is fine too). And definitely hope for their 20th anniversary the 5-men BSB would come to Jakarta again. BSB never came to Jakarta complete 5. In 1996, it was only the 4 of them, I heard, minus Brian, due to his health issue. Then came 2008 and this year, minus Kevin. Aww....

It just struck me... Brian's sense of humor resembles Shingo's so much!!O_o   And Brian is such a family man, his wife and son means the world to him, which I'm sure Shingo will be too, when the time comes, seeing how good he is with the kids, and knowing that he stick to the same girl for so many years (don't know if he's still with her now).
I have never thought of this, the first time I became Shingo's fan... like oh he reminds me of Brian BSB, nope never thought of that. I just realized that now XD
Watching Backstreet Boys members got married and openly shows and talks about their wives and sons, makes me feel sad for SMAP members. I hope they'd get that kind of freedom too, someday. Or they don't need that kind of freedom? Hmm...

Watching Brian and his son's interactions on the stage together, can make me imagine Shingo's interaction with his future child heehee...

For those who love the Backstreet Boys too, I want to share this clip of Backstreet Boys (minus Kevin) in a Japanese TV show, ONTAMA. BSB guys at their peak of hillarity, I believe. I laughed out loud watching these clips. The concept of the show is very good and interesting too. I think that's what triggered them to go crazy, haha.

SMAPxSMAP - Nov 12, 2007

I Want It That Way - Acapella Rock version
by the Backstreet Boys feat. Kimura Takuya and Katori Shingo of SMAP

Seriously! Awesome improvisation by the guys! LOL!

Nakai in SOME GIRL SMAP, October 2004:
"A while ago, I went to watch Backstreet Boys concert at Yoyogi. It has been a long time, since I went to watch other artist's concert. But it's a group, I want to know how they perform and I want to see how they do it at Yoyogi Stadium. So I bought the ticket and went to watch.

If you ask me, what's different than SMAP. Not about the dance... they don't dance in sync that much. But they sing beautifully! Every person in the group sings so wonderfully. They're all so good in singing!! I was hoping I can find, at least, one of them... being out-of-tune, looking cute, and just keep dancing, a member who hold back the others in singing.... but I can't find it. They aaaalll can sing! How unfair! How can they all sing so good??

Actually I have their CDs and have listened to their songs in the last few years, so I got excited when they perform songs I know and I would sing along."
=end=

Hahaa.... Nakai was looking for his match in BSB XD

Kimura in What's Up Smap, July 1999:
*talking abt filming 2046 in HK*
The MTV channel there played "tell me why....", that Backstreet Boys' song over and over. They played that song so much, that it started sound annoying. But then it stuck in my ears. They're like the English SMAP? No, no, I mean... they're definitely more amazing than us. They're cooler. Cooler, they dance in sync, they're great singers. But what's really something... is the tattoo!! It shocked me! (laughing) "Is it okay for you to be in a group looking like that?"... there's one who look like that. His face look like Prince and his tattoo is this much! But I guess that's considered fashion there, huh. It's fashion, so he look cool with it.
=end=

Lol, it sounds like Kimura envy AJ. If tattoo isn't associated to yakuza in Japan, and he doesn't belong to Johnnys, I'm sure Kimura's tattoo would be as much as AJ. haha. They're both the wild and rocker type, anyway. Their wives even look like the same type too XD

bsb, smap
