So I'm finally starting to get the hang of Tales of VS. I was playing it today and managed to get a little further with the Leon/Kyle story. I leveled up ridiculously high, only to be a little disappointed when I fought Colette and Lloyd and realized they had 200 GP or whatever while I had 1800. Meh.
I love the skits between battles. Colette and Lloyd continue to amaze me. I love Colette's greetings before battle:
Colette: I'm Colette! Yoroshiku ne!
Lloyd: That's not something you need to say before a battle!
Colette: Oh, well, how about hello?
And then Lloyd trying to challenge Leon to a fight after he and Colette lost to Kyle. Leon was much amused, Lloyd was much aggravated. Leon's like, "you lost to him and you think you can beat me?"
Did I mention I love Leon's voice actor? Most likely many times.
The one annoying thing is that I have no idea how to unlock characters. I guess for now I can just play through Leon and Kyle's story, but I'd like to know for future reference. I'm most interested in unlocking Caius and Richter.
I also don't known how to do over limits, which is not cool.
Overall, the game has a sort of Super Smash feel, though honestly I like SSB more. That might be because I don't totally suck at that game. Neverless, VS is a fun game when it's not frustrating the heck out of me. I'm not so sure how well it'd do in the States though. It's definitely a Tales fan game, and Tales doesn't seem to have big enough of a following out of Japan. I don't even know what it was doing on Korean shelves, though considering it was Yongsan, which has like everything, I guess it shouldn't be a big surprise.
Let's hope this upcoming week goes quickly, everyone.
