Well as usual it's been a long time since my last post but hey I am nothing if not constantly in consistent. Whats happened to me lately?
I have:
-Moved out
-dropped to part time work
-started uni
-Allowed pride high to consume my life.

Heroic Name: Still
Real Name: Travis
Squad: None as yet, but looking for chance to practice combat casting!
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Place of birth: England
Orientation: N/A
Age: 17
Class: Sophomore
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown
Height: 5’10
Weight: 70kg

Powers: Previously a talented sorcerer able to cast spells considered very advanced for his years Travis has since suffered a drastic drop in his abilities leaving him bitter.

Feeling his anger and resentment over his deafness was preventing him from moving on he has placed a spell upon himself that froze his heart. He feels emotion on to a limited degree of intensity. Once his emotions reach the point where they could interfere with his ability to spell cast they shut down completely.

Even without being able to hear himself casting Travis retains the ability to recall a wide range of spells most however being theoretical, as he hasn’t spent the hours of practice necessary to pronounce the incantations flawlessly.

Favours Ice magic for combat with some earth thrown in. Uses fire and lighting less as the spells are too ‘jumpy’. Uses sonic attacks only when fighting solo. Defensive spells are primarily illusions and misdirection with an actually shield being a last resort.

Trained in magic since he could talk Travis is able to divert magical energy to allow himself to rest while performing lightly physical tasks. This means he spends only minimally time sleeping and uses the extra time to study and prepare new spells.

Limitations:

Travis has little ability to improvise his spells due to the preparation they require. He can use his spells creatively but can only use a spell he has actively prepared with enough haste to relevant.

While his ‘Ice Heart’ gives him strong resistance to empathic assaults another spell caster with the correct the spell could remove it magically causing him to regain his emotions and begin responding emotionally rather than analytically.

Deafened three years ago Travis is now unable to cast spells where he cannot accurately pronounce the words.

Due to his high level of proficiency with arcane languages Travis is unable to read lips he instead cast a spell, which he describes as “Putting the world in subtitles.” This spell however only works for speech it doesn’t transmit over sounds meaning Travis can be snuck up on by the clumsiest person so long as they don’t speak.

Without his ears to guide him Travis runs the risk of having a spell backfire if his concentration wavers.

Without the aid of his goddess Travis no longer has any power to heal though he can remove pain through arcane means. Despite the rift between them Travis will still call upon her when fighting the undead as, due to his unfortunate history with them they fill him with dread.

Skills: Can read and write most common and many uncommon magical languages and given access to the appropriate texts can translate any give script.

Vast repertoire of magical knowledge Travis knows the right spell for the right monster. The only problem is the actual casting!

Weapons/Gadgets: Any item of clothing Travis wear is enchanted so that one pocket will contain whatever spell component he requires so long has he has it available. His costumes armour offers enhanced protection by spreading the impact of hits throughout his entire body rather then the area struck.

His cloak gives him a very minor teleport enchantment, with only a ten-meter range it can be used once every five minutes and can only take one other person along.

Physical Appearance: Shaggy brown hair 5’10 with brown eyes and tendency to wear earth tones. He wears little jewellery unless it’s a piece he himself has enchanted. Un concerned with his appearance Travis dresses as practical to the situation. His costume for combat consists of a suit of sleeveless leather armour with fingerless gloves covered by a hooded cloak that’s lining contains a row of emergency spells contained in scrolls.

Personality:  Travis is focused. His sole desire is to improve himself as a mage.

Despite his inability to feel emotion beyond the most basic of feelings Travis relates to people fairly well. He is friendly and polite but doesn’t let people get close enough that he may be tempted to remove his emotional binding spell. He has a degree of fondness for people who demonstrate control over their emotions and an ability to view a situation with neutrality.

He tends to stay out of personal conflicts but will quickly weigh in on a brawl as a chance to hone his powers.

He is mistrustful of deities and people who have more power then they have control as both remind him of his past.

History: Born in a sheltered clan of mages Travis was raised by their traditions, not knowing which of the elders were in fact his parents. Bright, cheerful and outgoing he was considered a magical prodigy he took the words to heart and developed a dangerous degree of arrogance.

This manifested itself when during an assignment he sought to out do his peers by summoning a Banshee rather then the zombie he was meant to be animating. His teacher recognising the danger used a word of power to deafen the entire room and dispatched the Banshee.

When the last of his classmates had been healed Travis was called before the collected elders of the clan. They told him that in their discussions with the family goddess they had decided to instead make his deafness permanent until he showed control to equal his power.

Outraged Travis attempted to commune with the goddess directly and petition her for healing but was rebuked. He then rejected his faith and his family and left the clan to seek a cure from various mystical experts around the world.

After a time of travelling Travis came to see the wisdom in his punishment he had been arrogant and his control and concentration were better then they had ever been. Despite this revelation Travis didn’t feel ready to return to his family, as he still believed they and his goddess had betrayed him.

He then applied to Poseidon Prep knowing it was a regular stop for mystical beings who might be able to shed light on solutions to his magically induced deafness while also providing an opportunity to practice his spells in a controlled environment.

He spends his vacations fulfilling commissions to ward the homes of the rich and famous. While doing so he poses as “The supreme grand master of the coven of the shadowy dawn.” As no one takes a seventeen-year-old mage seriously he finds it helps to pose as a decrepit old man.
