Hrmm... even though I didn't get much sleep last night trying to finish up the first draft of my international securities reg paper, I can't seem to fall asleep right now. Plus, I have a nice 9AM class I'm supposed to wake up for in the morning... great. As much as I hate missing class, I have a feeling I might miss this one. =P
So this past week was relatively uneventful due to this darn paper I've been writing about the woeful securities regulations that China has on its national markets. In the paper I attempted to compare and contrast some of the differences of the Chinese regulatory system to that of Hong Kong and propose changes that would help to spur more international confidence in their markets... somehow I don't think my paper got the idea across, but I can always pray, right? Geez, I sound like such a damn nerd right now.
So anyhow, after spending over 8+ hours in the library on Thursday, 8+ on Friday, and another 8 on Saturday, I had to go out... even if I hadn't really gotten enough done on that paper. Plus, my old college roommie has been staying with me while he's doing his family med rotation in Brooklyn... I felt that I should be a better host and take him out on the town. We really didn't do much except goto a bar in Union Square which ended up being pretty dead and then hopping over to a small loung/club in the Lower East Side called Guernica.
Before we left my place, Jay and I had a couple of beers and then I opened up a bottle of wine. We just chit-chatted about the day and we were off. That the Union Square Bar, we had another two drinks and took off to Guernica. I think Jay was buzzed already, but I bought him a Red Devil there. Red Devils aren't all that common on the West Coast, but I first heard about them when I came out to NY right before 9/11. A buddy and I flew out for a friend's wedding and we had a couple days in Manhattan and we partook in a few too many of those Red Devils... believe me, they're pretty strong, but taste just like punch. Anyhow, Jay was a bit reluctant to take the Red Devil, but he felt bad since I already bought it for him... so he drank it. I just chilled on the side while Jay and couple other friends danced the night away.. I guess I was feeling a bit antisocial and stressed out from the paper so I just people watched the whole time. Believe me, there were A LOT of guys... ratio of about 6 or 7:1. Yikes... anyhow, it was a pretty slow night but I think Jay was pretty lit by the end of the night.
Jay, my other friend Arnold and I took a cab back to Brooklyn Heights where Jay started yakking once we got off the cab... I felt kinda bad since I did buy him that drink, but I thought he got rid of most of it. He proceeded to walk back home while Arnold and I went to grab some corned beef and hash at 24-hour joint near my place. There's just something about corned beef and hash and eggs late at night... damn it was good. Anyone else get cravings for that stuff? I'd normally skip out, but late night munchies seem to get the best of me sometimes. :D
The next morning around 7AM, I hear Jay in the bathroom yakking... I felt really bad then. I guess I should've listened to him when he said he didn't want anything else to drink. *shrug* I'll be easy on him this weekend. :D Anyone know a good bar/lounge/club in the Lower East Side/East Village area? It's my b-day and I want people to be shakin' some booo-tay and gettin' their drink on. I know my friends are going to try and get me trashed, but I'd much rather remember the night and see everyone having a good time. Oh yeah... one of my friends volunteered me for a date auction sponsored by some club at my law school on Thursday night. *groan* It'll be really embarassing when noone bids the $5 minimum for me...hahaha. I might have to plant someone in the audience to bid. The bad thing is... on the off chance I get bid on, I realized that there aren't any attractive women at my school. To be bid on or not to be bid on... which is better? That is the question...
