So, so much. I just watched the final dance number from "Dirty Dancing" on YouTube. Why is that the best thing ever? It's SO CHEESY, and there is no explanation for why they are suddenly listening to '80s music in a 1960s Catskills resort, and Jerry Orbach is just sitting there like, grrrr! I hate dancing!, and yet it thrills me in a really non-ironic way. Maybe it's the sheer awesome of Patrick Swayze at work. Maybe it's that moment when he lifts her and her pale pink dress catches the light. I don't know. I just love it.
Brief, only mildly spoilery TV thoughts:
Fringe - Am finally caught up. This entire season so far is like a flaming meteor of awesome. Theory: Although Olivia isn't going to like Peter's affair with Fauxlivia, her weird experiences on the other side are going to show her how easily things can get confused and, fundamentally, she'll be able to deal. Not happily, but deal. It's going to be Peter who's totally derailed by it. Who's with me? Also, Walter owning Massive Dynamic? Such bliss. The fact that Nina Sharp is not dismayed by that at all tells me that either (a) she got something significant in her envelope, or (b) we seriously need to be afraid of what that bell can do.
The Vampire Diaries - Not all the way caught up, but almost, and in proof that I have not actually fucked up every single decision in my life (just many of them), my job actually requires me to watch the rest of it tomorrow. OH SLINGS AND ARROWS OF OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNE. Also awesome, though I look askance at the "bitch" and "slut" language being used for Katherine. One slur from Damon I found in-character given his specific sexual rejection and jealousy, but I very, very much hope this does not keep up. But Caroline's story is fabulous, isn't it?
Undercovers - Made significant strides ahead in character development and plotting, only to slip back a bit this week. I very much hope sweeps goes back to the plottier trend. Boris and his abs remain extremely dear to me, but where the hell is Leo?
I am writing
au_bingo,
kissbingo and
schmoop_bingo ficlets like a bandit. If you're interested in any of my fandoms ("Ugly Betty" and "Alias" mostly, though "Mad Men," "Undercovers," "Covert Affairs" and ST:AOS get coverage and "Fringe" and "Lost" are in my sights), but not following the comms I post to, you can always check the master lists, which are under the appropriate tags. Or you can just wait for me to crow victory again. Because I will be victorious. Oh yes. ::rubs hands together in style of Montgomery Burns or similar::
Have begun crocheting, but am still in very, very primitive stage where I forget the basic stitch and am proud of myself for, like, managing to roll the yarn back up in a ball at the end. Baby steps, people. Baby steps.
