Day 19 - Best TV show cast
This answer takes me back to eighth grade, because the first word that comes to mind is Duh:
Yes, that's what all the TV critics always say. They always say it because they're RIGHT. This is not a case of every single person in the cast being good, or even great, but a case where every single person in the cast is one of the best performers ever to work in TV. I mean, many-time Emmy nominee John Amos, many-time Emmy winner Valerie Harper, and Oscar winners Cloris Leachman and Helen Hunt were in this cast and didn't even rate the cast photo. That's a deep bench.
(Interesting fact: The character of Gordy the weatherman was originally conceived as a flirtation/maybe love interest for Mary Richards. The network brass liked that idea. Then John Amos was cast, and suddenly the network brass didn't like the idea anymore, i.e., nobody had the balls to go for an interracial romance for America's Sweetheart in the early 1970s. It's a shame, because I'd have loved to see what performers as talented as JA and MTM could've done with romantic comedy written as well as that show was at its height.)
Some other truly great casts I've loved:
Alias
Among this cast are performers who were in the original Broadway productions of "Art," "Noises Off," "Assassins," "Sweeney Todd," and "Arcadia." And that's just Victor Garber. Then you add in Ron Rifkin, AND Carl Lumbly, and Bradley Cooper, and the amazing Jennifer Garner, and Lena Olin, and Isabella Rossellini, and Joel Grey, and I'm just going to stop here.

Rome
Ciaran Hinds! Polly Walker! Lindsay Duncan! David Bamber! All just for starters.
**
Ugly Betty
I realize I'm sort of having a love affair with this show at the moment, but I honestly think this is as gifted a comic ensemble as I've seen on TV in a long time.
**
St. Elsewhere
Not pictured: Mark Harmon. Note how Denzel has this look on his face that clearly says, I am going into film as fast I can manage it.
**
Frasier
Nothing but pure awesome.

The bounteous
dianora2 has provided
yet more photos of Victor Garber hanging out with Jennifer Garner and her kids. I love that, in a lot of the pictures, they're laughing.
Still feeling sick. Still working hard.
