Fringe finale, Journey to Drabble, quiz result

May 15, 2009 11:14

So, I haven't seen the last episode of "Bones" (or the last two episodes of "30 Rock"), but I did finally watch the "Fringe" finale: ( thoughts with spoilers )

I found it almost unbearably moving, actually, a reminder that each dimension suffers terrible losses, but that, as the show says, "there's more than one of everything," and so nothing is ever wholly gone.

Yes. This. That shot of the Twin Towers hit me like a kick in the gut -- what an amazing way to show that this alternate reality is not the one in which we live. I love the idea that nothing is ever wholly gone. Of course, clearly that wasn't enough for Walter, since he took Peter from (an alternate reality? this alternate reality? surely there are many of them?) -- somewhere else, anyway. *g* I find myself wondering what about Peter's mother, how did she feel about this crazy scheme, and also about whether there is a Walter in the other universe now bereft of his stolen son.

The monster-of-the-week eps left me largely uninspired, but when they bothered to make arc episodes, they were fantastic. I look very forward to season two.

I think this Walter did steal the other Peter -- and that there's another Walter, one who never went insane and who is angry and dangerous as hell. Walter vs. Walter = TV GOLD.

Some monster-of-the-weeks worked for me, others didn't. I think when they zero in on the characters a little more (as they have begun to do), even the MOTWs will perk up. And the mytharc is just going to an awesomely cracktastic place.
