Egad, A Base Tone Denotes A Bad Age

I'm no longer a karaoke virgin!

We went out to Sopranos for catmcroy's birthday. I got up and sang twice, and, despite being so nervous that I could barely stand up, kind of enjoyed it. I did Cake's Short Skirt, Long Jacket to start, and that went pretty well, so later on I did Love Shack. I was a little caught of guard when I realized that it was a duet (some songs the back-up vocal track is supplied- on this it wasn't; I wish the book of songs indicated when a song needs more than one person), but I called catmcroy and whimsicalzephyr up to fill the role. It's hard to tell when you are the one behind the mike, but I think I pulled off a passable Fred Schneider. I'm just glad I knew the song well enough to keep going when the screen went blank for a verse. I had my name down to do The Suits Are Picking Up The Bill by The Squirrel Nut Zippers, but there wasn't time for it to get played.

I may actually have to go back and do that again some time.

music, karaoke
