Title: When the Goth meets the Magicians
Fandom: Kamen Rider Fourze, Kamen Rider Wizard
Genre: Crossover, romance
Characters: Nozama Tomoko, Sakuta Ryusei, Sohma Haruto, Koyomi
Summary: Ryusei and Tomoko goes to a black magic shop, and there an unexpected meeting occurs.
Note: Mahoutsukai, the word used to describe Haruto most of the time, could also be translated as magician. So I'll use that translation to refer to both Koyomi and Haruto.
- FOR SHIKI!!!
It's note a date. Ryusei repeated inside his head. He was waiting for Tomoko at a bus stop. They agreed to meet early Sunday morning for Ryusei to accompany her on her trip to the other side of town where a new black magic shop just opened. He was just a bodyguard, someone to protect her if ever unexpected things come.
Of course, no zodiart will come no matter what. But it was better safe than sorry.
"Ryusei-san!" Tomoko called out as she walked to his side. She was wearing a black dress like usual, the frilly one she wore last time they talked to Libra. "Did I wait long?" She asked, worried.
Ryusei's mind kept on replaying a scene in a drama where the girl asked this type of question. Those characters were on a date that time. This is not a date! "I just arrived." He shook his head and smiled.
She smiled as well. They sat on the waiting shed. The bus will arrive in about 5 minutes.
"How's Amanogawa?" He asked, feeling uneasy in the silence. "It's been... three months?"
She nodded, shifting her gaze from the buildings in front of them to him. "Did you hear about Miu-senpai and Daimonji-senpai?"
"Daimonji-senpai asked her hand for marriage, right? Did Miu-senpai finally agree?" He almost laughed, remembering those two. Miu still did not completely agree on marriage the last time he heard. They were negotiating on their terms for marriage. They're compatible that way, Miu being hard-headed and stubborn and Shun being loyal and persistent.
"She did. They haven't agreed on a date yet but it surely will be early next year."
The bus arrived just in time. They boarded it, still talking about the Kamen Rider club. Ryusei was glad there was no uncomfortable silence and was also glad to hear about his friends. Kengo and Yuki were planning on taking the exam to be exchange students in NASA. They contacted the astronauts from the test last time so that they could get recommendations. Gentarou still continued making friends with just about anyone in school. He even said he will be friends with Subaroboshi students soon too.
JK was still the same, attending parties here and there. He has gotten pretty protective of Tomoko though, and asks her to join him sometimes.
"JK does?" Ryusei was surprised to hear this. "Do you go to parties with him?"
She shook her head, eyes wide and clear. "They... It's too bright, those parties."
He couldn't help but laugh. It really would be a weird sight, to see the goth Tomoko sitting alongside those gyaru girls and those boys who wore colorful jackets like JK. It's a mismatch. It would be interesting though. And knowing JK, he won't let Tomoko feel alone despite being in a strange crowd. Thinking about it like that, he couldn't help but feel a little jealous. At least Tomoko-chan asked me to go with her today, and not JK. It was a silly sense of pride, but he liked the idea anyway. This might not be a date, but they were still together on an empty bus on their way to the other end of the city. Together.
They continued talking about Amanogawa High and the students. Ryusei talked about Jirou too and their training together. It was fun talking like that with her.

They arrived at the shop a little past 10. Ryusei wondered where they should eat lunch, going through a list of shops he read about in a magazine yesterday. It's not a date! He repeated again, just in case. He really should stop being so full of himself. Clearly, Tomoko just thinks of this as a shopping trip with a friend.
The shop was small and had a simple [Black Magic] sign on the front door. They had black elaborate curtains and red table cloth on their display table. Numerous items adorned the shop: spell book, white snake skin, lizard tails. Name it, they have it. Tomoko was obviously having fun looking through their book shelf. He, on the other hand, really did not want to touch anything. He still could not forget how she almost cursed him back when he was hiding his identity as Meteor.
To take his mind off that memory, he looked around the customers in the shop, only to notice that there were only one other customer. It was a girl, maybe about 17 years old or younger. She looked small and fragile, like a porcelain doll. Contrary to Tomoko, she was wearing a white dress with a red bolero on top. It was like she was exuding a light aura.
"Tomoko-chan," he called out, glancing at her direction. "I'll just wait outside." He waited for her to nod before walking to the door.
Outside, there was a bench on the side of the road. It was as if the owner of the black magic shop expected people to need a comfortable seat outside of the said shop. To his surprise, he saw a man sitting there already. He sat on the other end, wondering whether or not he should greet the other person.
"Waiting for someone too?" the guy asked, looking at him with a carefree smile.
Ryusei nodded, unsure of what else to say.
"Want some donuts?" He offered a paperbag full of donuts. "I'm Sohma Haruto."
"...I'm Sakuta Ryusei." He politely took one donut and said thanks. He was actually pretty hungry. He was too excited this morning so he didn't exactly eat a proper meal. Argh. Stop acting like a girl. He shook his head a bit, shaking off his thoughts. "Are you with that small girl?" he decided to ask to open up a conversation. He wasn't sure how long Tomoko will look inside after all.
Haruto nodded. "She's searching for something." was his simple answer.

At the same time, Tomoko was looking at a glass ball in the middle of a table at the side. "Interesting..." she muttered, inching closer.
"Excuse me." The other girl seemed interested in the ball too. "This..." She wrapped her hand on it and inspected it closer. "I'll buy this."
Tomoko blinked, staring at the girl. A shiver ran down her spine. "You-" She stopped herself from saying what she was thinking. Why would there be a magician, a real one, in here? She's not a zodiart though. She's not a bad... being.
The girl looked at her for a second before she shivered as if electrified. "Phantom." She muttered, leaving money on the counter before running to the door. The surprised store owner simply shrugged and took the money. Tomoko ran after her, still curious about that girl.
"Tomoko-chan!" Ryusei ran to her side. "That girl was holding a glowing-"
"Glowing?" She asked, trying to patch things together. "I think we should follow them. There's-"
"A zodiart?" He did not expect to actually be attacked by those monsters. "They rode a bike. Should I-"
"I'm not sure." She looked like she was lost on what to do.
He thought about it for a few seconds. If she said they should follow, then they should. Kamen riders help out, right? He took out his belt and transformed. He kneeled down, and she sat on his lap. He held on to her and jumped towards the direction of where Haruto went.
~*~*~*~*~*~
What they saw there was a red kamen rider fighting a monster unlike any they've seen before. It was not a zodiart. "A phantom...?" Tomoko asked out loud as Ryusei put her down. "She said that."
Koyomi, who was behind a tree just a few meters away, went out of her hiding spot and stepped closer towards the two. "What are you-" She looked at Meteor with huge eyes.
"What is that?" Ryusei asked, pointing at the monster. "A phantom, you say?"
"What are you?" She asked in turn, eyebrows furrowed.
"He's a kamen rider, like your friend over there." Tomoko walked to her. She glanced at Meteor with a look asking if he would fight. He nodded and was about to go when Koyomi stepped on front of him.
"Haruto can handle this on his own." she said, defiantly raising her hands on both sides. "Only Wizard can kill a Phantom."
"You kill?" Tomoko's eyes widened. "They're... not humans turned monsters, are they?" The thought made her scared. Kamen riders can't kill humans, right? They're heroes of justice!
Koyomi looked at her and said "When humans become phantoms, the human vessel dies." There was a certain emotion in her eyes Ryusei could not read. "Please don't interfere."
The two looked at the fight, and watched as the Wizard sent a final rider kick to finish. Seems like it's finished. "Looks like he can do it on his own." Ryusei transformed back and hid his belt. "I'm Sakuta Ryusei."
"I'm Tomoko Nozama." Tomoko introduced. She seemed really interested on this girl. Her black aura seemed to reach out to this other girl.
"Koyomi." Wizard has transformed back, revealing Haruto who was smiling easily as if this was natural. "Ah, Ryusei-kun!" He greeted as he stood beside Koyomi. "And you are...?" He faced Tomoko with a friendly smile.
"Nozama Tomoko." Ryusei answered for her, somehow feeling protective of the girl. "She's my... friend." He looked Haruto in the eye, showing a practiced smile while his eyes was saying 'Don't even try to make a move on her'.
Tomoko had other plans though. She stepped forward, leaning closer towards Haruto. "A new Kamen Rider...? Based on magic?" She laughed a low, creepy laugh. "Interesting..." She then looked at Koyomi and took her hand. She smiled wider.
"Don't touch me!" Koyomi stepped back. She looked scared, as if touching her would give you a curse.
"It's okay. I know." Tomoko said, eyes showing understanding. Her smile hinted that she vaguely knew what Koyomi was hiding. "You're interesting." She said, offering a hand to shake.
Haruto chuckled, took Koyomi's hand and placed it on Tomoko's. "Koyomi, looks like she likes you." He patted her on the head. Koyomi looked like she would pout any minute now. Haruto simply looked at her fondly.
Ryusei knew that look. He sighed in relief. He was a kamen rider and Tomoko is interested in him, but he was not a rival. "I didn't expect Sohma-kun to be a Kamen Rider."
"You too." Haruto laughed. "Aah~ That made me hungry. Our place is near, do you want to come join us?"
"Ah..." Ryusei had to repeat again inside his mind that this is not a date despite the fact that he had a perfect lunch date spot inside his mind. It was a few blocks away from here and he was sure they had nattou dishes that she would like. But then, this new kamen rider seemed more interesting for her. "Sure."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Their place was a small antique shop. The owner was an old man who cooked pretty well. Haruto, the owner, and the two of them sat together to eat. Koyomi sat on a seat at a booth on the side.
"Are you not-" Ryusei was about to ask whether Koyomi wanted to eat, but Haruto looked warningly at him, and Tomoko placed a hand on her arm as if stopping him. It was a sign. They both knew why Koyomi was not eating. It was not the time to know why. So instead, he smiles politely and thanked Wajima-san for the food.
They talked about what it meant to be a kamen rider, what Kamen Rider Club was, and a lot of different things. Most of the time, it was Ryusei and Haruto sharing their experiences while Tomoko listened happily, eyes shining with excitement. She looked at Haruto with the kind of eyes she used when she first looked at Meteor. It was kind of sad to think that look wasn't reserved from him only.
"Ryusei-san?" She looked at him with eyes full of questions, of worry about what he was troubled about.
"It's nothing." He smiled and shook his head. She had a different kind of look now when she looks at him. That makes him happy. He was not just another kamen rider in her eyes.
When it was time to go, Haruto and Koyomi saw them off at the bus station. "Come back again." He said. "Hora, Koyomi, say goodbye."
"I'm sorry." She said instead, looking at the two with an awkward expression. She looked like she was not sure what to do.
"We'll visit again." Tomoko touched her hand as she said this, smiling that knowledgeable smile again.
Ryusei simply nodded, choosing not to react to the weird way Haruto was motioning to Tomoko with his eyes as if saying 'Take care of that girl too'. He smiled politely before walking off with Tomoko.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"That was nice" Tomoko said as they got off the bus. "Kamen Rider Wizard seems amazing..." She left that hanging as she seemed to plunge into the world of dreams, imagining the different forms of Wizard.
He let that be. It was the usual Tomoko anyway. She really liked Kamen Riders and he won't be jealous of that. After all, he was now her friend, someone close to her. He thinks it's better than being idolized.
He walked her to her home, to be sure she would be safe. "Well then," He didn't want to go yet. But this isn't a date, this was just a shopping trip. She was finished looking through that shop. Besides, they'll see each other soon enough. They promised, didn't they? They would both visit Haruto and Koyomi.
"I had fun." She said, eyes wide with honesty.
He chuckled. "Me too." Even though it was not what he expected, he had fun talking with her like that. He found himself wanting to spend more time with her. "Let's go again next time." He smiled at her before walking away.
"That was a good first date." She said as a final statement (there was laughter in her voice), shouting 'goodbye' as she waved her hand.
So it was a date after all... Ryusei smiled, thinking of buying more date-specialty magazines on his way home.
