But you know, if this were the real 24 universe (yes, the sucky one), I can remember one thing that probably would've gotten him couch duty. Cause seriously, Almeida - do not tell people what kinds of one-the-job mistakes your wife might've made while you were in frickin' surgery to repair blood vessels in your NECK.

Yeah,he was such an ass in that moment. Actually, I think his whole sulky attitude for those few hours made him a bit of a hypocrite. He throws a tantrum over the fact that after what Kim said to her, she questioned his effectiveness to Ryan, preaching how she should know he wouldn't compromise CTU..Yet, for however many months before that day, he's been keeping secrets from her, lying to her, deceiving her etc about Mexico, because Jack Bauer told him to? Always thought that was unfair and mildly hypocritical (Of course it's totally eclipsed by Jack's hypocrisy that Season)
Yeah, I think he would have been on the couch after that little outburst... For the half a night or so until he'd be compelled to beg her forgiveness, anyway. lol
Yeah I really wish they hadn't made all their time together during that season so shitty. I mean, I get the angst stuff but that wasn't really angst. As Nick pointed out, it was kinda bad writing if you ask me. But I don't think they planned much of anything out too much anyway since he goes to jail for doing the exact same thing as Jack. Just doesn't make sense.
She'd have kicked his ass for sure. Then of course they'd have "you didn't die in surgery" sex.
Honestly, I think they both made their share of mistakes. I tried to figure that out:
Tony wouldn't have gone to jail if he hadn't made the decision to play along with Saunders' demands. Michelle got captured because she went to the Chandler Plaza Hotel, which she only seemed to do to show Tony she was badass. Of course, she never would've needed to prove that if he hadn't been so patronizing. Then again, they're government agents and I suppose if somebody tells you to keep a secret, you do it. And Michelle shouldn't have freaked out about that, because that's exactly what she did in season 2, when she helped Jack for hours before Tony figured it out. And he even ended up on crutches. :D
So, if you ask me, they both made their fair share of mistakes, but that "obviously Europe WAS a priority" thing, that was totally out of line. Possibly a reason why you shouldn't leave a hospital while you're on painkillers after six hours of surgery.
Then again, they're government agents and I suppose if somebody tells you to keep a secret, you do it.Yeah, but the thing is, it wasn't the higher echelons of CTU telling Tony to keep secrets from his wife and shut her out, it was Bauer. It therefore, had nothing to do with the job. It was just Jack deciding that everything, including someone else's marriage, should be run *his way
( ... )
Yeah, but the thing is, it wasn't the higher echelons of CTU telling Tony to keep secrets from his wife and shut her out, it was Bauer. Just like Jack was the only one telling Michelle the Cyprus recording was fake. Same thing, except she wasn't involved with Tony yet. But nonetheless, Jack asked her not to tell anybody and that's what she did. In both cases, I do think they believed in what the were doing. But still, they ultimately did it because Jack told them to
( ... )
I think the reason it was like that was because other characters were starting to surpass Jack in popularity. I know it sounds biased, but Palmer, Tony, Michelle, all were EXTREMELY popular with people and let's face it, 24 is Jack Bauer, plain and simple.
And yeah I agree it's stupid the way they handled it.

YES! YES! YES! I LOVE YOU! Thank you, usually I get hated on for saying exactly this!
But it's a clear pattern - look at the characters they killed off: Tony, Michelle, Palmer, Bill - and ultimately, Renee. Even though, with the storyline they gave Renee for season 8, I was almost glad she was dead so they couldn't put her through more crap.
And then I have people telling me they only killed to prove that everybody could die and to shock the audience. WRONG! Everybody could get hurt and/or die, except for Jack. Also, it's not much of a shocker when the next popular character gets killed.
let's face it, 24 is Jack BauerYeah, but I liked the show it was when "24" stood for a great ensemble and not some one-man show with convenient side-dish guest-stars who cost a fortune (i.e. Jon Voight). I loved the show that had totally unknown actors who put everything into making their characters seem real and believable. Once they'd
( ... )
Yeah, 24 wasn't/isn't all Jack to me either. But I meant as far as the writers were concerned, you can't have the show without him. Everyone else was just background. That's why I think they killed everyone. By season 4, it was clear people weren't tuning in for just Jack, like maybe in season 1 and 2. They had to bring in Tony, Michelle and Palmer. I mean come on, you're going to call an old president to come in during a time of national crisis to make your moves for you? They knew though, that people wanted them. Which is why I think for season 5 they said ok, we gotta cut these ties b/c they are starting to overshadow the main character.
And look what happened, season 6 was horrible and season 7 had to make up some outrageously full of holes plot to bring back one of the ones that ended up keeping people around.
I hated season 8 so I stopped about 12 episodes in, but I heard how they ended it and to me, I thought it was the cowards way out. He should have died. But, it's not a very popular opinion.

Lucky for him, they tossed him in jail first.

Well, don't do this when your job involves making sure nuclear war doesn't break out.
If you work where I do, it's no prob being on painkillers and making sure the sexy time still goes down. (pun intended)

The op was done by Bauer and Tony against regulation. No one approved it. I honestly don't know why they couldn't have told her.
