The weather had been warming up lately, but somehow Yuuji just wasn't feeling it.

In fact, it seemed like the days were getting colder to him; he had hoped that he would be able to feel some warmth and get better so that he didn't have to bother anyone by living in their houses. Some guy had offered his family's place, but the main problem was finding Nyper right now. He had thought that he was close by, but he wasn't really sure with the way his head was spinning.

"This sucks," Yuuji whispered hoarsely, dragging himself along as he tried to find a village -- any village would have been fine. He only managed a few more steps before he flopped down to the ground, breathing heavily. Maybe if he could just sleep for a while...

A man sat by the side of the road, making a small flower garland. He whistled cheerfully to himself, foot stomping some silent beat only he could hear and sharp eyes were concealed in a fox like smile. The man wasn't a beauty, quite far from it; his face was long and monkey-like, and he wore a pair of over sized glasses that sat securely on his large nose. He was also wearing a pink, frilly dress that looked like it might have belonged to a rich tavern wench, if such a thing existed.

"Shut up, I'm trying to sleep!" Yuuji yelled, his voice cracking and thin. It was probably a bad idea to yell when he could hardly talk, and he realized it when he burst into a coughing fit. He remained still on the ground once the coughing had stopped, unable to find the energy to even move. This was it, he was going to die out in the open because he had let himself be abused by the elements.

The man, Konjiki Koharu, turned his head and huffed. Well, that guy looked pathetic enough. Very, very much so. "You don't appreciate good music," he huffed. "And... Are you dying?"

"I think so. Bury me, okay?" Those weak words was all Yuuji managed before he closed his eyes. No, he really couldn't keep awake anymore and he didn't really care if closing his eyes and sleeping meant death; anyone was better than the pain that seemed to be everywhere -- mostly his throat and head.

"My, what a bother." And why wasn't he a white mage? Sounded like it could be useful just about now. He got to his feet and strolled over to the young man on the ground. "I believe you've got yourself a bad cold. If you don't watch it, it could turn into pneumonia. Then you really die."

Yuuji looked up, his eyes only barely opening. He grabbed at the man's legs weakly, never mind that he didn't even know the other. There were still stories he had never told to his audience, and he wanted people to hear those; he couldn't die before that. "Take me along."

"I'll take you to a healer," Koharu sighed, catching the young man under his arm and heaving him up, allowing him to slump against him. "Will that be okay?"

"Thanks," the storyteller whispered. His pack strained against his shoulders as he was pulled up, but he made no complaint; he had whined and pitied himself enough, so he could continue on his way now. Tilting his head slightly, he looked at the man beside him. He probably should get a name just so he could return the favor in future, even if the other was some weirdo in a dress. "--name?"

"Koharu. You can call me Koko~" Smile. Flutter of eyelashes. Yes, he was flirting. Even if the man in his arms was only barely conscious.

"Yuuji." Usually, he would have been more talkative. Right now, however, even saying a word was a lot of effort and he really wanted to keep as silent as possible until he had recovered. He was actually pretty afraid of losing his voice for good; he would never be able to tell his stories again if that happened.

"Are you that bored guy?" Blink. That... couldn't happen, could it? The world wasn't that small. It... couldn't be.

Blinking, Yuuji nodded slowly. Wait, Koharu sounded pretty familiar now that he thought about it. "...Konjiki?"

"Ah, yes! My, this is fabulous! Not fabulous that you're dying, but you are pretty! I knew it!!"

"...Yeah, fabulous. Now save me." Nope, Yuuji wasn't really in the mood to be happy that he got to meet the weird guy he had spoken to through the magic book thing. Even in that pathetic state, he was still able to blush at being called pretty, though he couldn't really muster the strength to deny it.

"What do you think I'm doing, cutie?" He dragged Yuuji down the road, and the smell in the air -- human vaste, flowers and sweaty bodies -- told him they were getting close to a village. Maybe not the greatest one there was, but still... They had to have a healer, right?

Yuuji swallowed, trying to keep up the best that he could. The support offered by the man beside him did help, at least, though Koharu was moving a little too quickly; it made him grip a little tighter, almost afraid that he would be too much of a burden and left behind.

The small village was a busy one, but not so busy that people wouldn't stop and stare as the unlikely couple struggled through the unknown streets. Dirty, snotnosed little kids stared unshamelessly and the grown ups pretended that they didn't look but they were just as obvious.

"Tch." While he didn't mind being the center of attention when telling his stories, he didn't really like to stand out otherwise. He shuffled closer to Koharu, never mind that he was weirder than the rest of the world combined; he wasn't too normal himself either, and normal people were boring.

A small, questionable looking house sported a sign that had a few medical plants engraved in it, and Koharu came to a stop. "We'll look in he..." And there was a little kid pulling at his dress, chirping to her mother that the donkey had a dress that was prettier than hers. Oh. How he loathed women. Even little ones. PFFT!

Yuuji groaned, slumping a little as he felt his legs tremble. "Konjiki, hurry up."

"Well, if this girl will just get out of the way...!" He wished he could kick her away, but you didn't kick kids. Even if they soiled your dress with their dirty hands. Oh, brother... He nudged her away and then opened the rickety door to the house, peeking inside. "Anyone here?"

"Is something the matter?" A woman sat at the table, her hand paused in the middle of sorting herbs as she looked at the pair who stood at her door. It didn't take long for her to notice that there was a sick man, and she invited them in quickly. "Lay him on the bed, he looks like he's been sick for days now."

"I just want you to know that I don't know him, I haven't hurt him, and I haven't infected him with something nasty," Koharu babbled as a precaution, before doing as he was told.

The woman only gave him a strange look before taking a look at the man on the bed. "Can you remember your name?"

"Yuuji," came the weak reply as he felt the world spinning even more. Maybe it was because he wasn't moving anymore. Moaning pathetically, all he heard was the woman saying something before everything faded to a blank.

When he was finally aware of the world around him again, the first thing he noticed was the weirdo sitting beside him. He tried to sit up, wanting to look around.

The hours had passed, and the sun had set and the night had went... And now the sun was rising again. Koharu slept, head in his hand, and a blanket pulled over him where he sat in a rocking chair next to Yuuji's bed.

Yuuji grunted when he found that he didn't have enough strength to sit up and settled for tilting his head so that he could look around. He studied Koharu since the other was one of the only things he was able to see. It was the first time someone had actually helped him, though Shiraishi and that other guy had been pretty nice to him too; Shiraishi even offered him a spare tent. Still, those were things that they said they would do; this was something that Koharu had already done. It was easy to see where he should put his gratitude. "...Oi, you. Koharu."

He was dreaming of the war. He was walking through something that must have been a battle field, and a young man, cut in half, reached out a hand and tried to reach for his gown. "...Koharu," he breathed. The black mage stirred and woke up, cold sweat on his face. He blinked, tried to focus. Where was he? Who had been calling him? He glanced down and saw. "Yuuji."

Okay, that was weird. Yuuji licked his lips awkwardly, not quite sure of what he wanted now that he had the other's attention. It was quite the coincidence though, for Koharu to be the one who found him. "Are you okay? Maybe you're sick too."

"I'm perfectly fine," Koharu lied. "Sleep isn't my friend, that's all. How are you feeling?"

"Better, at least. I can talk a little now," Yuuji said, smiling a bit at the fact that he no longer felt like he had swallowed sand even though his throat still hurt. He wasn't going to lose his voice permanently, he could still tell stories and mimic people.

"Ah, and I can actually hear what you're saying now. That's an improvement." Koharu nodded sagely.

Yuuji grunted and pushed himself up slowly, his arms shaking with the effort. "Yeah. And now you can see for yourself. I'm not cute like you thought."

"You're not," Koharu agreed. "You're pretty. But I already said that, you know."

"Are you sure you're looking properly?" Surely he wasn't pretty, not in those tattered clothes and the tacky thing he tied around his forehead. He coughed before stopping his attempts to sit up since it wasn't going well, clearing his throat before he tried imitating Koharu's voice. "Yuu-kun."

He grinned when he found his voice to be close. It was good enough for now, with his throat hurting and his head pounding.

Koharu's eyes widened, and then he cracked a rather wide grin. "Oh my, Yuu-kun, that was awesome!! How did you do that, and oh please, do it again, it was sooooo sexy!" ...What.

"Later, throat hurts," Yuuji grunted instead, though it pleased him that he had entertained the person who had saved him. He looked at the man, curious about something. "I thought you were in Achsler."

"I thought so too, but no nice asses in Achsler."

Okay, what. His savior turned out to be some kind of pervert, as if the dress didn't already prove it. "...Asses, right," he mumbled, as if it was perfectly normal.

"Yes. Asses. Young, firm, pretty boy asses." Well, not boy boys. He wasn't into kids. But whatever. Young men. But that was so boring to say.

Yuuji rolled onto his stomach so that he could see his own ass, then he grinned. "Ass, like this?"

Will not pinch, will not pinch, should not pinch...

"...That's right."

The fun was over, and Yuuji shifted so that he was lying properly again. Somehow, the other was a little contagious; he made him want to do stupid things -- well, stupider than usual.

It was then that the woman came out with a bowl of something, handing it to Koharu. "Here, you feed this to him. There's also water on the table. Help yourselves while I go pick more herbs," she said, and then she was gone.

Yuuji wrinkled his nose, looking at the bowl. "...I'm not drinking that."

Koharu frowned. "Yes, you are. She made it especially for you. You want her good efforts to go to waste? Or my money? I've already paid for your treatment, you know. Don't frown upon the help from others, or you'll get nowhere in life, fast."

"You paid?" Yuuji cast another glance at the bowl. As much as he would like to disagree, Koharu was right and he shouldn't be acting like a brat when everyone was helping him to get well. He nodded slowly, indicating that he would drink whatever that was, even if it smelled strange. "...Could you help me sit up then?"

The mage nodded and slid his arm underneath the young human, helping him up, He brought the cup with the broth close to Yuuji's lips and smiled. "Bottom's up."

"Nngugh," Yuuji replied, trying to swallow everything quickly. It felt good sliding down his throat, and it didn't taste as bad as it smelled. Besides, it felt nice having someone touch him -- it had been a while since he had physical contact with anyone, and he missed it; the matron always gave them hugs before they went to sleep in the orphanage. He pulled back, licking his lips before muttering to himself, "I want a hug."

Koharu set the cup away, blinking. A hug...? He could do that, he hoped. Probably. He smiled, pulling the other man close. "Mmm, don't give me any naughty ideas, Yuu-kun... Please?"

"I haven't had one for a long time. It's been a long time since I left the orphanage." He never really hid the fact that he was an orphan, not seeing the point in that. Maybe it just wasn't uncommon to him, since he grew up among other children who had no parents. Shaking the thought off, he turned his attention to Koharu instead; he was curious about the man. "What made you stay? You could have just left me here."

"I told you," Koharu muttered, storing away the information that Yuuji was an orphan to a later time, "I think you're pretty. So of course I stayed." To him, it was simple, even obvious.

"...That's it?" Considering the weird things the other did and said, Yuuji supposed that he really should not be surprised anymore. He still blushed though, more embarrassed by the comment than anything else; he didn't think he was pretty, even if Koharu seemed to think so. "What will you do after this, then? I was thinking of finding an inn since it's not like I can stay here."

"Oh, an inn!" Koharu got to his feet and started to prance around, wriggling his butt. "Please tell me we get to share room!!"

Yuuji blinked, but nodded. He didn't really want to spend that kind of money, but he could still afford one of the cheaper inns -- it would probably be better for him to stay indoors until he recovered. "I was thinking of that. A room's pretty big, and you paid for my treatment."

"Yes, yes... And then..." He paused. "NO! We can't be even, I don't want to be even with you, I want us to continue to owe each other things and then we have to keep in touch!!" Cue flailing.

"...You can pay for the inn if you want. I'll just... clean, maybe cook," Yuuji offered, not quite sure what else to say. He was actually intending to ask if he could follow Koharu and run errands for him as some sort of repayment, but it seemed like he didn't have to.

"Well, maybe that works," Koharu said, calming down and nodding to himself. "When do you think you're fit to travel again?"

Yuuji thought about it, pushing his headband from his eyes. "I guess I could walk if you help me, if you're just talking about moving to the inn. I'll try to get better sooner so we can leave soon."

"Well, don't push yourself. I can be your nurse and nurse you and care for you and pamper you and then you really, really owe me, right, sugar?" He winked playfully, reaching out a hand towards Yuuji. "I can help you onto your feet right now. I kind of want to touch you again. So having you leaning on me would be heavenly!"

"You're kinda a pervert," Yuuji commented, but took the offered hand and tried to pull himself up. He managed with the helping hand, slowly moving his legs off the bed and trying to stand.

"Oh my, you know me!!" Cue some prancing around again before he remembered that yes, he should have taken Yuuji's hand again, to keep him from falling. "Now, don't you just love me?"

"Would love you more if you keep it down," Yuuji grumbled, his head hurting. He wasn't always such a grouch, but he wasn't feeling well so he wasn't in the best of moods. The world was a little shaky, so he grabbed at Koharu's arm to keep his balance.

At which Koharu immediately siezed the opportunity and snaked his arm around Yuuji's slender waist, pulling him close. "I can be quiet," he whispered into the younger man's ear. "Want to know how much?"

Yuuji yelped, his voice still a little rough. Did Koharu expect this in return? He shivered at the voice in his ear, trying to squirm away. The man was a pervert after all, though he couldn't really refuse. "...How quiet?"

"This quiet." And he simple blew his hot breath into Yuuji's ear.

Someone squealed, and Yuuji only realized it was him after a few minutes. He turned and glared, though he couldn't pull away from Koharu; he would probably fall over if he tried. "Stupid Koharu."

And he was greeted with a self assured chuckle. "Let's get you to the inn, sugar." And he slowly started to take the two of them towards the door.

"They're going to think you kidnapped me, pervert!" Still, Yuuji followed. He liked Koharu -- maybe it was because the other was the one who saved him from what he was sure would be death, or maybe it was something else; he didn't really care what the reason was as long as he could follow the other, really.

"Well, I don't think they'll execute me for it," Koharu smirked. "I'd like to see them try."

Oh, now that was pretty attractive. Yuuji shook the thought from his head quickly, glad that he could blame the blush on his sickness. "Let's just get to the inn and we'll find out if anything happens."

Koharu made a 'tut' and then slowly guided Yuuji out on the smelly street. "Pfft. Hardly hygenic, this is..."

"I'll get well soon and we can leave. We can just stay indoors until then," Yuuji pointed out, wondering just how long it would be before he was well enough to travel. His head was still spinning a little, and his voice wasn't fully back yet -- he wanted to get moving as soon as he could though, just so he wasn't holding Koharu up.

"Then we'll just find you a room. You need to rest more." Rest was the best medicine after all; that was something he had learned during his travels. He guided Yuuji towards the inn, where some locals obviously were causing a ruckus, but he decided to ignore that, and opened the door... Only to get a flying pint right in his face. "OW! Now, that's just rude!"

"Looks like they're having fun in here. Are you okay? Aside from the pain, I guess." It looked like it hurt, after all; Yuuji was pretty sure that it did, in fact. He leaned over a little to peer at Koharu's face. It didn't seem like it was going to cause any permanent damage, thankfully.

He could feel a bump coming on, but as far as he could tell, he wasn't even in danger of getting a concussion. It just hurt. "They've marred my not very beautiful face," he whimpered pathetically.

"Let's just... get a room. We could both do with a rest," Yuuji offered awkwardly, not sure if he should try to kiss it better like the matron always did to their injuries back in the orphanage. Maybe where people could see, at least.

Koharu rubbed the offending spot and gave the brawlers an unimpressed glare before starting towards the counter where the unimpressed innkeeper sat, chewing on his fingernails.

Yuuji could do nothing but follow. It wasn't as if he could wander off on his own in that state, and he knew that -- he didn't really know how to fight, and now he was sick on top of that. He swallowed to soothe his throat, leaving the talking to his companion.

And after a bit of debating they were up in a room that at least pretended to be clean, and Koharu lowered Yuuji down on the bed. "Now you sleep."

"You should sleep too. I'm always hogging the bed and you end up in the chair," Yuuji pointed out, grabbing at the other's wrist. There was only one bed, though he was willing to give it up; he was used to sleeping outdoors, so the floor was hardly a problem.

"Oh, we're gonna sleep together?! It's so sooooooooooon!!" Missing the point here.

Yuuji stared at him blankly. "...So? I used to sleep beside others back at the orphanage. And I don't mind sleeping on the floor if you prefer to be alone."

"Oh, no, no, no! We need to sleep in the same bed, that we do, yes, yes!!" The sight of a grown man bouncing around was quite odd. But there you had it.

His headache was getting worse from the way Koharu pranced around, and Yuuji rolled over so that his back faced the other, making sure there was enough space for Koharu at the same time. "Get in then."

"Oh, so forceful and demanding!!" Sparkle, sparkle. And he quickly climbed into the bed, after stripping down in the nude, and made himself comfortable. "Good night, Yuu-kun~ ♥"

The rustling of cloth made Yuuji a little worried, and he couldn't help but turn around. "What the hell are you doing?! Wear your clothes to sleep!"

"No way! They'll get fleas!"

"Don't sleep naked with someone else beside you, pervert! Put them on!" Yuuji wished he weren't blushing and croaking as he spoke, but both happened.

"No way! I have to let my delicate skin breathe!" In a bed full of fleas? Well, well... Still, he wasn't moving an inch to put clothes back on.

Yuuji pouted before trying to crawl over the other so that he could sleep on the floor. Sleeping beside a naked person was just too awkward for him, no way was he doing that. He settled in a small ball by the foot of the bed. "'Night, Koharu."

Tut. Tut. Tut. Oh well... "Good night."

It wasn't as comfortable as the bed, but it was better than being outdoors at least. Yuuji only grunted quietly in acknowledgement, shuffling slightly before he closed his eyes, waiting for himself to fall asleep.

It really didn't take long for Koharu to fall asleep -- the chair had been uncomfortable -- and soon enough, his soft snorings were heard in the room.
