Needlework for the win

I have a headset which I use when I chat with friends via the free(-ish) long distance of the internet. The headset is getting rather old, though it's still working fine. A couple weeks ago, I noticed that the little foam-stuff covers on the headphone speaker portions were worn out: they had holes in them, and it was amazing that they hadn't ( Read more... )

I was just about to suggest that you could make your own but you beat me to it. :D I expect the crocheted ones are more comfortable than anything you could buy.

They're very soft. And machine washable, should I choose to do that. My ears aren't usually all that dirty, but any trace of grime would show up better against the pale green than it did against the original black.

They didn't take very long to make, either.

My parents were Depression babies, and passed down some of what they learned then to their children, so "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without" is a strong motivator. I'm tickled that I don't have to toss an other-than-pads perfectly functional headset!

My parents were, too. My father used to put water in the ketchup bottle to get the last bit of ketchup out, and blamed it on his Depression upbringing. I REFUSED to use watered-down ketchup!

I don't think we ever had watered down catsup--though my mother may have extracted the last bits from the bottle with water and then used that in spaghetti sauce.

We did have "graham cracker cookies," which were made by taking a graham cracker, putting a little bit of the left-over frosting you'd just frosted a cake with on it, and covering that with a second graham cracker.
