phase 1: privatize Social Security Insurance COMPLETELY, however, government regulation and enforcement of the same. (mandatory fixed percentage contribution to an account, only accessible to the person who worked for that money or his/her heirs ( Read more... )

phase 1: why not? isn't that what we have for the current insurance industry? the government doesn't run the insurance industry, just says (by state) this is the minimum required.

phase 2: nope far from it. i think you've missed my point that if you only can pull out what YOU put in, you'd be more inclined to get off your ass and find a job. the system now takes money from my pay and puts it into a pool, not a personal account. why should i pay for someone else to sit on their ass for years? injury and problems like downsizing are exactly why there is unemployment, it's for you to live on for a couple months while you find other work, not for people to live for years without a job. the people who NEED to collect it worked for it.

phase 3: no, stop paying subsidies to farmers and we no longer have a group of workers being paid to not produce food while we have starving people in the world. besides the fact that most of the food in the US is produced by huge agriculture companies, running thousands of acres. kill the monoploies and get rid of the subsidies, you'll bring back a market economy among the farming communities. while the price of food would fluctuate (up AND down) it help the farmers who are now living off government payments to do nothing with hundreds of acres.

phase 4: no shit? broadcasting ignorance? ya think? purely looking at the facts is insufficient, never mind that the implication was look at the facts, in addition to trying to see the facts as both sides of the problem see them.

why? isn't the fact that they'd pay more by default enough?
i did need it, and was turned down for some nebulous bearucratic bullshit.
i AM thinking of that future, i'm thinking that this ponzi scheme we currently have won't be in place for long. i'm thinking that i'd rather be able to put that money taken from me into an account that won't go to pay for so old fogey next week instead of myself in 40 years.
