Christmas Station IDs
Well, it's common thing that most TV stations here make station IDs related to the theme of the months. Some of them are simple messages from those who are under those stations or some are songs. The most enjoyable stations IDs are the Christmas ones. Of course, Christmas is a very big holiday here in my country. So, the TV stations (ABS-CBN and GMA) compete each other for the best Christmas station ID. Well, I guess that's part of our mentality that which Christmas station ID is the best. And you tell it from the comments in youtube that some say that *insert station name* is the best and that *insert station name* sucks blah blah blah.....Srsly, the most important is that these two stations are trying to give what is the most meaningful Christmas message to the public.
Anyway, I pick out some of my favorite Christmas station IDs. Actually, they're all songs and they all came from ABS-CBN. But it does not mean that I'm a Kapamilya (or ABS-CBN supporter). It's just that their songs were very powerful and they are really music to my ears.
So, my favorite one is from 2002. Yeah, Carol Banawa was the one who sang this. She was famous back then. Idk what happened to her. I think she's taking a rest now from showbiz. Also in this ID, there are some people who are already dead now (such as FPJ and Erwin Baron) and who transferred to another station (such Heart Evangelista, Lorna Tolentino and John Lapus). So, yes, 2002 version is my favorite.
I don't know if this is ABS-CBN's Christmas station ID back in 1997 or 1996. But this song until now is one of the most memorable Filipino Christmas songs.
