Everybody wishes to weave the perfect story for their lives, and Ruki was no exception. If anything, he might even be one of those people who strive so hard just to achieve that - what ambitious, perfectionist young man doesn’t? He never really viewed his own story as perfect when he’s got it all: looks, talent, personality, fame and fortune, and honestly the list could go on. He was never really satisfied, but then again, so was everybody.

But despite all of his achievements, there were times that he couldn’t help but think that there’s always more waiting for him out there, even if he really doesn’t know what that ‘more’ is or where that ‘out there’ was. He was always usually right anyway - his hunch was worth risking getting kicked out of the house at a tender age, his intuition was worth risking a couple of meals in order to make and send out those demo CDs to different labels. And yet it doesn’t seem that his desire could be satiated even after all these years, despite of the things that he’s already been through.

Ruki sighed as the stylist finally spoke up and said that his hair and make-up was done; his thoughts immediately dispersed into the back of his mind. With a more audible sigh, he stood up to examine himself in front of the mirror, trying to find more things that hinder in his perfection.

Lights shining, fans shouting, adrenaline pumping. It already was a perfect story, Ruki’s very own. At that very moment Ruki genuinely believed that he was at the top of the world, but that little demon inside of him persisted to scream that there must be something more, there should be something more. He frowned at that, and whatever frustration he had towards that inner devil of his, he drowned by focusing on the sound of the guitars screeching and his screaming. For a moment he forgot all about that nagging thought inside of him, but a few songs later it was back again and more forceful than ever in distracting him. Their leader noticed, and every time that he turned his back from the audience, Ruki would receive a reprimanding look from Kai, to which he replied with an apologetic pursing of his lips. Uruha noticed as well, but Ruki already had his back on him when it was his turn to cast a wary glimpse on the vocalist.

Finally the second half of the tour final was up, but the thought still wasn’t lost on him. It was frustrating, having something in his mind like that when here he was, in front of thousands of people, needing to do his job. While his distraction wasn’t obvious to anybody else now -with the exception of Uruha, but Ruki never noticed that - he couldn’t feel a little bit guilty for worrying about something so frivolous... but perhaps it wasn’t so frivolous. Either way it was not the time to contemplate on such matters.

He paced on the stage, to the right, then to the left, not only because it was his choreographed move but because he wanted to divert his attention. He then settled to the left side of the stage, where Uruha was, kneeling on the floor with his head thrown back. Maybe a little fanservice would take his mind off things. Ruki sat down behind Uruha and brought the mic down, as it was the time to pause for the guitar solo.

“Are you okay?” Uruha asked with a small smile, and Ruki noted how the older’s fingers continued to strum on the guitar. For a moment he just stared at Uruha with a blank look before returning that smile with a bashful smile of his own, tugging on his still stiff hair a little bit.

“Yeah, I’m okay.” And then he started to sing again.

Somehow, at that brief moment of exchanging smiles, Ruki got an idea on what could still be missing in his story.

A/N: As I am a lazy person, I didn't bother checking which scene in RCE that screencap came from. Oh well, I'm off to uni~ 8D
