Summary: A relationship that functions because it's not real. Should that work?
“Rei…tell me the truth!” I screamed. My auburn eyes watered as they stared at him.
“I AM telling you the truth.” Liar. “What else do you want me to say?” his shaky voice lowered. But why couldn’t he look at me. He couldn’t even look my way.
“Ruki…” he mumbled, moving his hand towards my shoulder.
I backed away swiftly.
“DON’T TOUCH ME!”
He looked hurt, I suppose. But he wouldn’t even glance at me, no matter how much I urged, pleaded to him with my eyes. I never got a response, I finally realised. I’d lost my Akira forever. “Please, tell me where you were last night?” I tried my best to keep myself together, but the cracks showed.
“Nowhere…with the other guys…” he started fidgeting with his t-shirt.
“Th-then why, why was that whore the one to pick up your phone?”
I started sobbing, couldn’t take it anymore.
He quickly pulled me into his strong arms, it was a habit he had.
“Aoi brought her along, Ruki. She must’ve picked it up when I wasn’t looking…”
He started rubbing my back when I choked on my sobs. It felt soothing, like it was the most natural thing in the world.
I looked up at him, with my red tear-stained eyes. He still wouldn’t look at me…I’d truly lost him. I wanted to push him off and run, tell him I despised him so much.
“I believe you.”
The words escaped my lips before I knew what they meant.
He smiled weakly. “I’m glad. I love you, Ruki…no, Takanori.”
“I love you too, Akira.” We headed off towards our bedroom.
I really do love you. I know you love me too.
You may be a liar, but I’m no better. I’m the one that wants to be deceived.
In no way do I blame you, Akira.
I’ll believe in any lie you give me, because lies are what’s keeping us together.
