Soo, as you may know I went to hyper japan on saturday with my bff page :D she arrived on the day of and i was over half an hour late picking her up because the bus took forever and a lifetime. i'd not used that one before so was staring out the window for the whole thing trying to recognise places. she sent me a text going 'im in kfc' just as the bus went past. had to walk back Y_Y
she had a small bag with her so we didnt need to go back to my halls and drop it off. we took the tube to liverpool street and saw some people cosplaying and decided to follow them. they didn't seem to know where they were going and we took off on our own after a bit. we got there quite quickly and were pleased to discover that there were two entrances, one for ticket holders and one for non ticket holders. when we got there both queues were about the same length. they were letting people in only a few at a time and it got cut off just before we got in. this actually worked out for the best because we got chatting to the security guard who gave us amazing directions for the cash machine and we found out that you didnt need to queue for re entry (we would have).
we got in and i was surprised at how small it was! seriously, it was TINY. The security guard told us that only 300 people were allowed in at once or smth. We had a quick look at all the stalls and they were ok. i had a nosey at the lolita stuff and was all O.O at the prices. £30 for a pair of socks!!! Page was disappointed because it didnt have much gaming stuff. I beat her 2/3 times on the play station 3 game (button mashing ftw!). I went to the artbox stall and found out that hello kitty shares my birthday (november the first if you are interested). Im going to see if they will give me free/discounted stuff...i doubt it.
i was going to meet up with
triggstero and we saw her at the first stall we went to! it was great to see her again and she gave us some free raffle tickets (we missed it D:) but somehow we didnt bump into each other after that ): would have stuck around but page had been travelling since god knows so we headed back home pretty early.
ne ways. i saw some extentions at the loves change booth and wanted them so page and i skuttled off to get some money which we did without any problems. on the way back round we had to walk past the queue and saw the girls we'd seen at the train station. they were STILL waiting to buy tickets! made me insanely happy that id endured the stares of the japanese peeps at the department store to get my tickets early.
We went back in and bought our hair + some lunch. while we were eating we met a girl who worked for some anime thing with a really great cosplay. i didn't get her name but she is going to some other thing and she said to come say hi.
we went to watch the cosplay compo, here are a couple of photos: so without further ado:
I took photos of ALL the 'professional' cosplayers, these are just some random ones. If you want some bad blurry shots (there may be a couple focused ones) of a group just comment and i'll stick them up for you.
this group won the trip to japan! i think they deserved it but there were other groups who were just as good.
I still don't know what this thing is. i was like 'hey! its that thing aoi draws!'
now for my hair. interesting i know.
see, if the flash doesnt hit it directly it looks alright but when it does:
yeah, not such a great match. so i can have many blurry but colour matching pics like the one below.
anyways. onto the 'more' of this post. according to the lovely
http://www.ongakushock.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=178&t=3441 unsraw are still coming to the uk!! WHEEE! i'd love to be at the front for this bbbuuutt my lectures finish at 6pm on that day so i may even be turning up late T_T im tempted to just bunk off but its elementary logic which i FAIL at but i'll take a look at the slides. if i understand, i'll skip, if i don't, i wont.
i FINALLY managed to arrange a meeting with my tutor. the final final deadline for language courses is on thursday evening and he said that he would meet up with me on thursday morning. i hope he says yes because all the paid classes are gone so i wont be able to do it this year if he doesn't. even if he gives me permission the language office might turn around and say no T_T i want to learn japanese so badly!! i rang him and we are meant to just email so i might be in shit...oh well. worst thing they can do is tell me that i shouldnt do it again. meh.
had my first programming lab today. i was a bit of a dick. i'll admit it. ive not done it before but mine seemed to be working so a couple of people were looking to me for help. i kept telling them that it was the first time id done it so it probably wasnt right. i was honestly just warning them that i genuinely didn't know what to do but i guess it might have looked like i was going 'nyeah nyeah im a n00b and even i can do it' arr.
im trying to decide whether or not i should lock my journal posts. i think ive linked back to them in some coms and it annoys the shit out of me when people do that, you click the link and then it says access denied. the reason for this is that ive discovered that some people at my uni (well, more than SOME) have ljs. One of them is completely flockd and one isnt. i now know shit loads about this girl and ive only seen her, i havent even spoken to her. i'd hate it if it was the other way around. my fangirling/bitching isnt exactly dignified... i think that i'll probably just leave it. i don't see how they would find it anyways as i dont link back to it from anywhere other than ongakushock. meh.
i think thats about it for now. tomorrow im going to do see if i can switch a corset i bought. the lady gave me xl and it wasnt tight around my waist at all. i have t-shirts tighter than that but she said i could just do the laces up more so i left it. got home and took a look at it and there is no way those laces will do up any tighter. i dont know if she'll change it. it was from some random place in camden and i didn't get a receipt. i might just do the whole 'i'll tell my friends' etc. thing.
oh i also walked all the way back to my halls from the train station because i wanted to see an art shop which is on the opposite and from it was open but by the time id walked all the way down the street to the crossing (there is a barrier) and back up the other side it was closed T_T i was too lazy to walk around the barrier again so just headed home.
AND i went to bed earlyish last night, had a really nice sleep and then was woken up by the fire alarm. i thought it was a test but looked at the window and it was still dark. then i realised it wasnt wednesday and that the alarm was STILL going. the whole building had to leave and stand around in their pjs for 20 mins at 4am while we waited for the fire department. ruined my day. and my health. got such a big cold now.
