My afternoon class is cancelled, so I've decided to give a rundown of the drama series I'm currently watching.
Awesome series, starto!
Honey and Clover
With such a heavy emphasis on fine arts it's no surprise this series is as gorgeous as it is, but I still appreciate it so much. This series is so amazing it's actually getting me to revise my priorities by reminding me of things I didn't know I missed. (Then again there are areas where I'm being stubborn and ignoring things it brings up that I should be facing, but in this context that's neither here nor there.)
I have only two complaints: First, the occassional less-than-stellar moments of poor cinematography, but I'm willing to overlook this because the cinematography is normally amazing and it's just something I'm overly picky about; second, that Ayumi hasn't kicked anyone in ages and I'm really starting to miss it. SHE IS SUPPOSED TO KICK ASS, WHY IS SHE NOT KICKING ASS. I DON'T GET IT.
One Pound Gospel
Yeah, the one where Kamenashi has a crush on a nun. Honestly I think it was better before she started returning his feelings (seriously, WTF?), but it continues to deliver the lulz. Kame's a good actor, and he plays the dorky-as-hell lead amazingly, but I'll admit it's the supporting cast that really makes the show. (Nika and I have nicknamed them all, too: River Monster, Haruka, He Who Geeks, and... that other one. Y'know, the other one. Yeah.) And I also feel compelled to admit, I will never get tired of seeing people punch Kame in the face. Freakin' hilarious.
...Don't judge me.

GEE I THINK I MIGHT LIKE IT, I DUNNO, WHAT DO YOU THINK? Come on, do I really have to say anything here?
RH Plus
I'll admit I'm ages behind, but I haven't given up! Come on, how could I give up on ambiguously gay (it's still ambiguous, right?) crime fighting jailbait vampires? EVERY TIME I MENTION IT I FEEL THE NEED TO INVOKE GRATUITOUS SPARKLY TEXT. HOW COULD I GIVE UP ON THAT?
*ahem* Moving right along, from what I've seen of RH Plus, it's a so-bad-it's-good premise (my favourite genre, unsurprisingly I'm sure) with a more or less capable cast. The combination is novel and a little confusing, but not in a bad way. It helps that the entire cast is composed of complete dorks. AND DID I MENTION THEY FIGHT CRIME? Yeah, that's what I thought.
Binbo Danshi
I only watched the first episode last night, but I'm hooked already. OGURI SHUN IS LOVE. LOVE AND CRACK. ALSO MIURA HARUMA, WHO IS LOVE AND CRACK AND ADORABLE CRIPPLING SHYNESS. Honest to god, he's like me when I first meet someone. Like, COWER IN FEAR AND STAMMER A LOT. He makes it look way cuter than I do, of course.
It's cute and heartwarming and cracktacular and endearing, technically sound, good acting, CAN I HAVE THE NEXT EPISODE NOW?
Neverland
Again, one episode into it, only started watching it last night, but OH MY GOD IT IS SO INCREDIBLY HORRIBLE. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Seriously, the acting is mediocre at best (understandable since the main cast was quite young and inexperienced then, of course) and it's all downhill from there.
The cinematography is ludicrously bad. I first dubbed it halfway between PPOI and Meine Liebe (the latter because of gratuitous EXTREME CLOSEUPS /Wayne's World), but later realized it's just bad soap opera cinematography. The plot line seems to match.
The subtitles, though, are by far my favourite part. I think they were translated from the Chinese subs by someone with a shaky grasp of English, so while the verbs and nouns are in the right place, there's something just not... quite... right. Y'know? If someone talks to fast it seems like gibberish. It's truly hilarious. And then of course the names are wrong half the time. LOVE IT.
The cast is LOVE. Tsubasa and Ken are all ANGSTANGSTANGST, Hina is ON CRACK (what else is new?), Toma is... Toma, and Koki is COMPLETELY ADORABLE. Seriously, gangsta got my heart. He's such a woobie. Like when Toma dresses up like the bad guy from Scream and scares everyone, he hides behind Tsubasa and hugs him! HE'S SO CUTE!
So in short, the show's terrible, and I am hopelessly in love with it.
Gachi Baka
I like to think of it as Gokusen Light. If you want to get a clear picture of the main character, the teacher, imagine if Makoto from Ikebukuro West Gate Park and Yankumi from Gokusen had a son. Now imagine that son was dropped on the head as a child. That brain-damaged offspring would be Gonta-sensei.
Y'know, among the main cast are Tegoshi and Massu, with their little clique containing the likes of Saito Keita, and yet I spend classroom scenes searching for Ichitaro and Uehara Takuya in the background. (Takuya was in Heads with Toru and Ryota from ONE OK ROCK! /overexcited fangirl mode) No wonder Nika and I put it on indefinate semi-hiatus.
Still, I kinda miss Gonta-sensei.
Me? Spend too much time watching drama series? Heh, maybe a little. But I'm having fun and I get to use gratuitous sparkly text, so what the hell. ^.^
