A friend of mine took me to see Stardust today for free. See, ever since I started working at the movies, I've been determined to not see a movie unless I can get in for free. Anyways, given the choice between Stardust and Rush Hour 3, I chose to see Stardust because it seemed like I already knew what Rush Hour 3 was gonna be about: Jackie Chan does martial arts while speaking Engrish; Chris Tucker cracks a bunch of Asian jokes while trying to get with chicks; the mob is involved somehow, and it's a happy ending for everyone. With Stardust, I knew it was going to be somewhat of a fantasy/adventure movie; I wasn't expecting anything great or spectacular... just something worth my time. Even if I didn't have low expectations, I don't think I would have been disappointed. It's a really bright, happy, epic movie. The soundtrack was excellent because it attributed more to the whole grandiose, epic theme. As you may or may not know, Claire Danes' character is a fallen star. A witch, potential heirs to the throne, and the main character want her for their own reasons. What I really liked about the movie was how Claire's character would start shining brilliantly whenever she was happy. I thought it was a great effect and fancied the idea of such a thing happening in real life. Just being able to make a girl glow with happiness just seems sweet.
