I need more time! More hours in the day, more days in the week, more weeks in each month. There is just so much out there to explore, fun things to do, things to learn. I have really discovered getting involved with something I just thought was a particularly inspiring Facebook group, Sustainable Human, and discovered it is very much more than that, they aren't just sharing on things they found elsewhere, it's a little organisation where people contribute literally a few dollars and they work together on projects to make new videos and stuff. Everyone who contributes gets a say as to what projects are worked on next. There is also a fairly young social networking site that links in (without all of Facebook's garbage) called tsu.co . I am still working on setting that up, but hopefully that will get going more in the next few days. I have embroidery guild on today (it's 6.20am) so I won't get a lot of time to play around on the computer. Lace class went well last night, got a decent size chunk of work done and I think I have it clear in my head what to do. Also next class is going to be a 'students choice' one of any of our existing patterns, which will be very good.I think at least one person at guild knows about my being trans, others may have picked up on it too. We were talking about tattoos and I pulled up my sleeves and showed them the petroglyph djapana snake valley and flag set and the FTM rainbow triangle and when they asked what it was I just said transgender. It's not something I have actually tried to hide (other than swallowing stories I could have shared at times when I would share when with Bek and her friends), but i wasn't sure how some of them would take it, whether it might upset any of the religious people or the older ones who don't understand, nor did I want my gender to end up more of a conversation than the craft work I am doing. Oh well, if it gets out I will deal with it, just hope it doesn't end up meaning I have to leave the guild.
On the way home from Lace class last night I picked up a new A4 pale blue Ifnotebook to record my notes and stuff from what I am learning about sustainable ideas, concepts, communities etc to keep it separate from my more personal journallings, this is big enough to keep printouts and drawings without being so big it is a nuisance. My personal journal is about A5 page size (but very thick so it will last for a while). So much interesting stuff, and there is so much to learn. Couchsurfing 'hospitality' website has a 99.797% satisfaction rate, is a good possibility of having a place to stay if I have to go to Melbourne or anywhere else around, which makes travel that much more possible even with a low income. I was actually on something similar a long time ago, when Ros and I first got together, only there was a small charge for that back then, I think it was something like $12 a night. Only had one person stay, but it was a fairly small (pre internet) organisation and it was only on there for a few months before we moved in with her Dad. I remember Ros wasn't very hospitable (doesn't surprise me), I put the folding bed in Bek's playroom and the lady was very happy.Years later when I had a Bears Who Care friend visit Skye road from Spain (she brought me a lovely book about Spain), Ros tried to virtually kidnap the poor girl. They didn't stay the night though, just visited during the day.
It's nice to be back on Livejournal again, I have missed writing comparatively long screeds without feeling constrained by a smaller box, even though it expands when you type in it, Facebook still feels like trying to write a postcard after a lot of letterwriting (although I love being able to share interesting 'postcards'). I think I"ll have to come back here more frequently, it has been too long since my last update.
More later
