Finally time for an update

Finally time for an update, so much going on with the ‘Spring Cleaning” (doing now so that in Spring I can get out in the garden). I’m stunned at how well it’s going (with intermittent HUGE help from Corry), I am going to have a liveable home in fairly short order. I’m already starting to see huge results and putting beautiful things around so that I will have an aesthetically pleasing home as well as a functional one.
Casper has settled right down since Miss Penny went to live with Irene, and Miss Penny (now Miss Patty after her aunty) is thriving and relaxed now that she is the only cat. Casper spent the whole night curled up on my lap (I fell asleep in the chair), he seems determined to help me relax, and even though I was in a chair, not a bed, I slept SO WELL, thanks to my darling boy!

My guitar lessons with Cyndi are going well. The first one I was so nervous I could hardly sing, even when she sang with me (we were doing “One Day at a Time”, The second class we did it again but also added “Sounds of Silence” (the first song I ever played for Cyndi 30 years ago) and also “Sad Lisa” which when I was living as a woman was “MY SONG”. Cyndi is as good as a teacher, and so kind that I am gaining in confidence, which is one of the main things I wanted to learn (along with more guitar skills, at the moment I am learning to use a pick (after almost 50 years of just using my fingers), which is going well. I went to Mid-West Music yesterday to get a guitar stand, another Capo, a tuner like the one Cyndi uses which I can see easily, and also some guitar straps (an aboriginal type design and a plain red one that I am going to decorate). I also ended up getting a music practice record book and also a percussion Triangle. The stand is great, it has no ‘moving parts’ to get lost. Can’t remember the name of the guy in the shop but he was really good, friendly and helpful. I also got a small selection of different picks as well as a couple more the same as the one Cyndi gave me. She suggested I experiment a bit to see what style I like, which I will do once I have practiced some more with the one I have.
Taking Irene to Formosa Gardens today (Sunday). We haven’t been there for a little while and I want to get some more plants (mainly Australian Natives), so we can go and have afternoon tea or lunch. Might drop in at Officeworks also and get some things printed. Last time I went I printed out the photos from my SD card in the camera and discovered that as well as the recent photos I also had all the ones from Lake Bolac Eel festival last year on there so they are now put on disk and also I got prints of them for my “Djapana” travel book. The property is starting to look really great outside, gives me an idea of what it will look like for the party (which reminds me I have to get Corry onto finding a marquee for me to rent). It’s going to be a great weekend, having Cyndi playing will be fantastic. I’m going to get the invite notices ready before my next lesson and get her to maybe do an invite like she did for the Ballarat Main Bar, that way there will be more fans of her music here, which means I will like their taste in music, and they are friendly people. Hopefully we will get some trees planted. I have to contact the local conservation group for some advice on what/where to plant as well as my “orchard’ which will be on the house block, but the paddock I need advice with, to get a proper balance but still have the actual paddock available for horses.
I found a nice small wallet size photo of Bek that was taken when she was in QLD and I didn’t see her for over 6 months. Glad I have it, as I really missed her. SO glad she didn’t stay there long, it’s so far away. It’s enough that she is in Beaufort. I don’t see as much of her and the kids (4 now) as I would like.
Time to start getting going with my clean-ups, before I take Irene to Ballarat.
Bye for now
Simon
