You know how they say love knows no bounds? And how love can conquer all? Not to mention how love makes the world go round? Well that's all wrong as Zhang Yixing had found out first hand.
Love isn't all magical and wonderful as they describe it in books or show in movies or dramas. Heck, Yixing could only wish that, that love was true but reality is a bitch and he knows love is anything but that.
Yixing had the pleasure or rather, displeasure of falling in love for the first time when he entered SM as a trainee.
He had gone his whole entire life without falling even a bit and honestly he blamed all the stupid dramas and books he read for making love appear like such an amazing thing to experience because it wasn't. Okay, well maybe at first it was and then it turned bitter and Yixing knew his fate was sealed.
He never really read about how one could fall out of love, just in love.
Yixing could only hope that whatever God was out there would take pity on his pathetic excuse of a love life and help him magically wake up one day, free from all the heart break. He just wanted to wake up one day... Just one day where he didn't want to crawl back into his bed and never leave because he dreaded meeting him.
That's another thing he never read in books; A male falling in love with another male, who he knew was probably the straightest male out there.
Yixing groaned at the thought and once again cursed himself mentally for being such an idiot. Well at least the books and movies had one thing right; you really can't help who you fall in love with. Because trust me, if Yixing had a choice he probably would have chosen a sweet, kind and cute petite girl rather than a tall bitch faced male that liked to make his life a living hell.
It seriously felt like the Heavens were against him and Yixing swore they liked to laugh at how he squirmed when he touched him or when he whispered something into his ear, invading his personal space and making his heart pound against his chest.
If you haven't guessed already, Yixing had the displeasure of falling for his friend and the leader of SM's newly debuted boy band, Exo-M's Wufan or as most of their fans called him, Kris.
Honestly, Yixing didn't know why he had fallen for the hard faced leader but he did and there was no point in crying over spilled milk.... At least not now.
Actually now that Yixing thought about it wasn't really his fault. It was all Kris's fault. He was the one that treated him extra special, he was the one always standing by his side and it was him who, as cheesy as it may sound, was the light at the end of the tunnel but in this case, the hand pulling him through the crowd of screaming fans.
Yixing couldn't really remember when the swelling and pounding of his heart suddenly started turning to painful aches.
Maybe it was around the same time that Kris started distancing himself from him because management had said they wanted to promote Krisyeol more and Taoris or maybe it was when they were asked their ideal types and not once were masculine features mentioned.
Okay sure, Yixing wasn't the most manliest man out of Exo-M but he didn't think he was feminine either... Well at least not as much as Luhan was with his cute baby face. But still, Yixing was a male and never before did he actually hate the fact that yes, he was a male and yes, he was no were close to what Kris's ideal type was because he was a guy and not a girl.
Yixing had spent years living in a fantasy world were he thought in some sick and twisted way that Kris would return his feelings but no, reality hit him like a cold wind on a winter day and boy did it hurt.
That was the first time that Yixing had felt his heart ache and his gut twist when Kris leaned down to whispered something into his ear; his breath feeling extremely hot against his ear. Yixing swallowed slowly trying to tell himself to calm down because this meant nothing and that Kris didn't view him the same way.
It's kinda funny really, how they were asked to promote excessive skinship between members but at the thought of that skinship being real, they all turn their noses in disgust. Why? Because it's wrong for a guy to like another guy let alone love another guy. No, that's just purely disgusting yet, here they are promoting that very thing.
So maybe it wasn't only Kris's fault but also management's fault. Their fault for misleading Yixing and making him believe that was okay only to later turn around and say, no it's disgusting.
No actually, it's not even management's fault, it's society's fault for asking for it and crave for it but at the first sign of it being real it suddenly turns out to be disgusting, abnormal even.
But Yixing knows, as much as he wants to blame everyone and everything it's his own damn fault because he doesn't even have the guts to tell Kris the truth, not that you could really blame him.
Which brings us to the present.
Yixing had just finished rehearsing their chereo with the other half of Exo, Exo-K and it was safe to say he was exhausted. He had arrived earlier than everyone, wanting to get some freestyle practice in before the others came.
"You were amazing" Came a familiar deep voice and Yixing could feel his stomach twist into a knot like every other time he heard that voice.
"Thanks, not too shabby yourself. Maybe if you keep this up you won't be deemed one of the worst dancers in Exo-M" Yixing said with a smug grin as he wiped the sweat off his forehead.
"Ouch. And here I thought I would be complimented for the way I skillfully dance with such long legs" Kris replied, smacking Yixing over the head with his damp towel that he so happened to have used to wipe his sweat.
"Eww gross. I can't believe you just hit me with that!" Yixing whined, completely ignore everything Kris said because honestly he was too tired to deal with him right now and his aching heart. "You should ask Kai to train you so you don't skillfully trip over your longs legs or as you like to call it 'dance' for rehearsal tomorrow."
"Mhmm... Maybe but I had someone else in mind. I certain someone called Zhang Yixing" Kris replied as he sat down beside him, a little too close causing their shoulders to brush against each other. Yixing was happy his face was buried in the towel because he could feel it heat up. He felt his gut twist and suddenly it was hard to breath. "But Kai's a better dancer and he has more patience..." Yixing trailed off, daring to peek up from his towel towards Kris and regretted it that very instant.
Kris was looking at him with a soft smile, his face dripping with his sweat and Yixing cursed the heavens, because no one could look as ridiculously handsome as Kris did at the very moment.
"Awe, come on Xing. You know Kai won't be able to teach me... Not the way you would." Kris smiled again and Yixing had to look away or he was sure his jaw would have dropped open and his heart would have jumped out of his chest. Damn Kris and his equally as damned good looks.
"Kris, what are you tal--" Yixing found himself suddenly interrupted by Luhan and silently thanked the other male from saving him from his impending doom.
"Will you two hurry up? I wanna go home because I'm tired and I want food" Luhan stated as Yixing stood up, stretching lightly before making his way towards the door where Luhan was. "Not to mention, I rather not watch you two love birds talk all day."
Yixing felt his face color as he looked at Luhan in horror to which the later just replied with a shrug of his shoulders before disappearing appear.
"Seriously, Luhan is such a dumbass. I swear he doesn't even think about half the bullshit he says" Kris mumbled, running his fingers through his hair as he walked up behind Yixing. "Come on Xing, ignore him and let's go home." With that Kris wrapped his arm around Yixing's shoulders and lead him outside to where the van was waiting for them.
Yixing held his breath throughout the whole journey from the practice room to the van, which sudden felt like a marathon rather than a 2 minute walk.
Kris pulled his arm away when the reached the van and slipped inside, leaving Yixing with a burning sensation of where his hand been.
With a small sigh, Yixing got in and found himself sitting beside Luhan who was staring at him with mischievous eyes. Yixing rose his brow in question but decided not to voice it because he was too tired to deal with Luhan at the moment.
Yixing had more important things to think about like how to get Kris off his back and convince him to have Kai teach him and not him. Yixing could already picture all the self torture he would have endure if he agreed to Kris's idea and there as no way he was going to willing put himself through that. He was already tortured by the other male during interviews, recordings and the stage. He didn't need to be tortured in the practice room too.
"You're thinking about him aren't you?"
Yixing blinked, his thoughts dispersing as he looked at Luhan, confusion written on his face. "....What?"
"Kris. You're thinking about him aren't you?" Luhan asked like it was the most normal thing in the world. Yixing felt panic flood through him as he stared wide eyed at Luhan, his eyes darting over to the tall figure sitting a feet away hoping he didn't hear.
"What are you talking about?" Yixing asked in a low mumble, trying to play the 'i'm lost and have no idea what you are talking about' card because apparently he's good at that.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about Yixing, don't play stupid. It won't work on me" Luhan stated, staring hard at him and Yixing physically shuddered under his gaze. Despite his soft appearance, Luhan could be merciless and the thought alone scared Yixing.
"I'm not playing Luhan, I have no idea what you are talking about. I think you need sleep" Yixing mumbled looking away, trying to ignore Luhan's eyes that were piercing into side of his face.
"You like him. You like Kri--" Before Luhan could even finish his sentence Yixinh clamped his hand over the other male, panic written all over his face. "Okay okay, please just stop saying his name" Yixing pleaded, biting at his lip as he looked over at Kris and thanked the heaven's that he had his headphones on and the other members were sleeping.
Luhan smiled as he removed Yixing's hand from his mouth and reached to wrap his arm around the later's shoulder. "At least you agreed. We'll continue this talk at the dorm" Luhan whispered, smiling his mischievous smile and suddenly Yixing wished the ride to their dorm was longer, much longer.
He would do anything to put off talking to Luhan because he had just let the biggest and darkest secret of his life slip. He had just admitted he liked Kris and oh god, this just had to be a nightmare. But one look at Luhan's face, Yixing knew this was all too real and just wanted to disappear that second. He could already imagine how Luhan was going to tell him how disgusting he was and tell the other members....
No.
This wasn't happening.
"Wake up everyone, we're here" Came the manger's voice and Yixing watched with panicked eyes as everyone slowly piled out of the van.
"Let's go Yixing, we have lots to talk about" Luhan whispered and Yixing almost forgot how to breath as he found himself being pulled out of the car.
