Is it bad that I've had 2 months holiday and not updated this AT ALL, then have started updating within 3 days of returning to school? Probably.
Sooo what's happened since I last updated....
FIRST I went to an Oxford open day on what has probably been the hottest day of the year so far. It was verrrry pretty. And had deer.
THEN we broke on on the 4th July and it was really hot and I helped with the leavers' reception in the house, serving champagne and all that jazz. I didn't just go there to nosey at all the dresses for the leavers' ball, ohnoididnot. My friend Alice, I was so shocked, cause she's quite pretty, but, y'know, nothing special, so I thought but she showed up in a deep red silk-satin dress, bunched a little at the right hip, and she'd had her hair and make-up done professionally, so instead of lip balm and her hair in a ginger braid, she had flawless pale skin, eye-make up which really brought out the green in her eyes, and her hair was loose and wavy/curly, down to the small of her back, it looked darker than normal and shone. She was stunning.
THEN Panic at the disco split, which was sad. Into the ryan-and-jon and the brendon-and-spencer shows. I have ranted quite a bit about it, but all's fine now. I'm just happy Spencer's shaved, cause he no longer looks like a hippy bear (he's gotten rid of the headband too, or at least he had in the photo of them in Kerrang!).
THEN we (me, my parents&dog and my friend Kara) went to Wales for a week. And it rained. For the whole week. Nearly. We had one nice day, when we went to the beach. Barafundle(sp?) Bay. Me and Kra and Honey went on the first day cause we'd been sitting in the car for hours on end while my parents went to Tesco, and it was raining, and it looked so beautiful and dramatic, the kind of place where tragic walks on the beach are filmed, just after someone's died and their loved one is watching the ocean and it's raining and they're crying. Very emo, but so.....powerful? I cant really think of the word, but it was imposing and majestic and you really got the feeling that Mother Nature could squish you like a gnat. Then we got lost in the way back to the cottage and got pounced on by wet man-eating ferns, they were ridiculously tall. Then we went back when it was sunny and it was a bit of a let-down. We went riding on the beach, which was freaking AWESOME apart from two things. One, I said that Icould canter, but hadn't for a few years cause I hadnt ridden for a few years, but the people wouldn't let me canter. Two, because I had to trot the whole time, the inside of my thighs CANED for the next 2 days. Luckily, it rained really heavily all day on the last day, so we stayed in and played monopoly all afternoon and read. It was the first time I'd ever played, so I trusted Kara when she told me to do something, and she used that to continue and build up her whole empire. It was so depressing.
WHILST we were there, Torchwood Series 3 showed (well, we went Friday-Friday and the last episode was the evening we got there). Only just got into it, had watched the last 3 episodes of both previous series'. And then they killed off Ianto. Who was possibly one of my favourite characters EVER. Yes, Russel T Davis, this is aimed at you.
ALSO I saw an interview with Matt Smith, the new Dr Who. He's so adorable!! All enthusiasm and flaily hands. And he's from where I'm from, which is always good. I had a better response at first seeing him than David Tennant, and he turned out AWESOME so I'm expecting good things to come. No pressure, Mr Smith, there's only the whole of England, and quite a lot of the US and Australia waiting to see what you'll do.
Wow, I'm only up to the 2nd week, and it's taken me nearly an hour. Huh. I was going to redraft my personal statement and update my CV in this time... =/ oops? My bad. I need to go now, cause sport calls.
Bck again, what, 2 months later? Oops.
I worked on my birthday, it was so depressing, and it rained!! It's nevereverever rained on my birthday before, twas sad. I did work experience in the local museum, basically helping to sort through the archives, which was really kinda cool. In this one box, there was a sachet of Chimean War medallions, a whole pouch of Roman coins, a couple of pre-historic stone tools (an axe and a few arrow heads), a very rusted metal dagger, and a medieval receipt book of medicines written in the 12th 13th and 14th century in a mixture of Latin and Old French. There were cures in there for things like headaches and toothache, as well as how to become invisible and how to keep the evil eye away from the family. And it was so pretty!!! Proper manuscript writing with big red letters at the start of each paragraph. The handwriting changed throughout, obviously, but it was all incredible.
