Challenging myself once again.
Inspired by the movie
Julie & Julia (2009) which I watched for the first time 10 April 2015.
As you probably have guessed by the subject title, I'm gonna cook at least one new recipe per week for a year.
Other things that ran through my mind when considering taking on a new challenge for self, include:
1. Some random quote about you know you are running out of time when you will never finish trying out the recipes you collected. (Morbid but very true.)
2. Some story about marbles that the Sunflower sent me a long time ago. Shall share
here as a standalone post. It deserves it :)
Long story short, decided to implement some form of discipline and challenge to take on something new.
I went over ideas of what kind of challenge will be, well, a challenge, but also not too daunting lol. It occured to me to look for the book by Julia Child and thought about cooking through that book. 524 recipes, 1 per week will take more than 10 years! OMG! See my point in Point 2?! Didn't like that concept though, I like to experiment and not just 1 type of cuisine. Or maybe cook through some recipe book? Again too boring, I'm too random for that.
Anyway, simple concept, 1 new recipe/dish I haven't cooked before per week for a year at least. New new, not variation of something I cooked before. Am sure the rules wil change and morph into some other guidelines as I go along lol.
So here it is today for this week. In line with my recent trend in increasing patriotism this year, plus it's like the Husband's favourite Singapore dish - Singapore Chilli Crab.
And then I have a recent obsession with Tom Kha served at a Thai restaurant near work and sought a recipe from the BFF.
So I did 2 new dishes this week! *HOOTS* Strong start! *GRIN*
I actually attempted making the 馒头, but the dough major fail! LOL. 2 out of 3 still very good!
I am a wonderful work in progress! :D
