Kink_bingo, thoughts and unexpected directions
Evidently, my current kink_bingo ideas are all amoral to disturbing to downright creepy.
I've found that I do best on these quick turnaround type events if I don’t make any attempt to make the stories make 'sense' or to do any intellectual look over as I type furiously away. Its not like my usual writing - generally, I have a theme and often some kind of emotional or ethical framework for what I'm doing. So, that sits in the back of my mind and guides my work. For kink_bingo, I let that go. This year, it seems to mean a lot of disturbing consent/relationship issues. Part of the reason, I think, is that this card has few of my go-to kinks (almost no impact play, no D/s), and several spots I either have trouble with or don’t get - vehicular? Consent?!? Emotional Play?!? Food? I kind of hope I can get a bingo done so I can get a different card. This card seems to be the bad touch!card. o.O
The Dom!Tosh series that starts with Fools Rush In is not what I expected. I had wanted a light, almost fluffy Dom!Tosh and I've got … meglomaniac!Tosh?!? Handing Ianto over for sex with creepy aliens she didn't vet completely - therefore not knowing they'd prefer to eat him?!? Then Ianto pipes up with an internal monologue about how everyone knows aliens exist, mainly because they keep Earth under their thumb. None of this was pre-planned but I build worlds reflexively and so I back-fill (as I do with so much of canon work) to make sense of the fragments I'm presented with.
I thinking that this Fools Rush In stuff is set in Pete's World - or an AU version of that (not that we know anything about it). A world where the Doctor never took Earth under his wing, as it were, and so humanity has been battling aliens on its own (and, well, some aliens never bothered them because there was no attachment to Time Lords *Daleks*). Not sure where it's set in relation to Rose and Handy and co.
It's a more amoral world, the torchwood team's history is different and people, so far, seem to be either more screwed up or less nice. Or both. It's a world I'd like to explore as an action story, and would probably be less disturbing that way, but seems to be being built in the context of porn.
All in all, I suspect this years kink_bingo stories are not going to be my usual fare. Luckily, I doubt I'll be able to keep up the mood for the entire card (not that I ever finish a card) so I'm sure some fun and fluffy will also come up.
