Today's rant is just an addition to gracie's post.

Today's youth has been fooled. They have somehow been influenced by others and had it drilled into their minds that looks are everything. From your face to your weight also included is how you dress. There are some times where that could be held true.... like at a fashion show, not at a concert or a local show. I mean i can understand that some people may want to impress someone that they see there; however, if that is the only reason for your attendance then why not just kill yourself. Please people just take into consideration that you dont need to look like a parrot exploded on your face to get someone's attention. Honestly if you want to keep it up go ahead though because its kinda funny to see people around that think that halloween is a year round kind of thing. But if you really want to save face go natural, either no makeup or the basics... and if you dont know how to do that then ask someone for help, i'm sure they would be glad to save you from looking like a total fool. Another thing about todays youth is that they all to often let others influence their taste in music. If someone likes a band you dont like deal with it and in vis versa. It gets old hearing someone say that a band sucks just because a kid doesnt like the style of music. I seriously despise people that act that way. I can openly say that even if i dont like the style of music that a band plays that they might be good. I give everyone a chance. I'm a very honest person when it comes to music, i'll tell the band if i dont like something about them and in my eyes they should accept what i have said and take it as constructive critcism.

This also goes to everyone who thinks it's funny and what not that i am in a sorority. I can say now that i am a better person for the things i have done thus far. In less than one week i completed nearly 20 community service hours which is double the required amount per semester for ZTA. I helped raise in one day about $900 that will go to the susan g komen breast cancer foundation, and worked at a benefit that the womens polo association sponsered where all of the proceeds went to the Cumbee center for abused person. I am unsure how much they made at the moment, but i am proud of what i have taken part in. I know that still some people arent going to change their opinions however i really could care less. If there is something that these girls have taught me in the past month it would be to take what negative statements people have made and not let them rest on my shoulders and irritate me to no end but to throw them away and be the bigger person in the end by simply saying hello and how do you do.

as my fellow zta sister Amber Baker states at the end of every email...
"Be humble and gentle. Be patient with eachother, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love." -Ephesians 4:2

Words which i live by and will forever hold in heart and mind.

Zeta Tau Alpha Creed:

To realize that within our grasp, in Zeta Tau Alpha, lies the opportunity to learn those things which will ever enrich and ennoble our lives; to be true to ourselves, to those within and without our circle; to think in terms of all mankind and our service in the world; to be steadfast, strong, and clean of heart and mind, remembering that since the thought is father to the deed, only that which we would have manifested in our experience should be entertained in thought; to find satisfaction in being, rather than seeming, thus strengthening in us the higher qualities of the spirit; to prepare for service and learn the nobility of serving, thereby earning the right to be served; to seek understanding that we might gain true wisdom; to look for the good in everyone; to see beauty, with its enriching influence; to be humble in success, and without bitterness in defeat; to have the welfare and harmony of the Fraternity at heart, striving ever to make our lives a symphony of high ideals, devotion to the right, the good, and the true, without a discordant note; remembering always that the foundation precept of Zeta Tau Alpha was love, “the greatest of all things.” -- Shirley Kreasan Strout
