BANNED BOOKS WEEK! among other things
1. BANNED BOOKS WEEK! This is ridiculous. I can't believe we even have such a thing in the US. With everything on TV and in movies, in magazines.. I can't even fathom that we have a list of books which are banned due to "sexually explicit", "racist", "religious viewpoint" or "homosexuality". It's just plain ridiculous. If you don't agree with the themes of some books, DON'T READ THE BOOK@! You don't ban it so no one can ever read it just because you disagree with it's subject matter. What I also can't believe is that some of the best writers of our time are on this list - Mark Twain, Toni Morrison.. Unbelievable. I am using a icon made by juno_magic from this entry to show my support for these books, and my complete and utter disdain for the fact this list even exists. So go. Buy the books. Read the books. Share this information with others so they can have their say in the issue as well.
2. Dinner with family didn't go quite as badly as expected. My sister didn't have much to say other than vague disbelief. My mother voiced her concern about my "hurting myself" with this. And my father stated that I'd "lost my mind." Poor them. They don't even comprehend that their opinions are moot in my choices.
3. Heard Archie's "Crush tonite in the Top 5 on U93 and, rather amusingly, heard it last night on Top 5 on B96, which is the local hip hop/ R&B station. If he plays this right, he could fall somewhere between being the next Jonas Brother and being the next Chris Brown. You go, bb.
4. Have been playing Cookie's "Light On" over and over all last night and tonite bc it makes me soooo happy. <3
