i just read an entry that we were being called cosfucks for inaccuracy as Mononoke...
i won't say i can ever do a 100% accurate version but i dare to say i've done as much as i could on sorting out the designs on the kimono up to even the deco on the obi and the dark purple/purple/green colored linings and down to the geta. My biggest regret is not getting a lighter blue color for the circles + some wardrobe malfunction + losing the red ear-studs + my ring broke. If you are cursing that my geta should be dark brown base instead of this brown, I'm sorry that the geta-customising shop only provide that shade. If you are cursing that the umbrella prints are wrong, I'm sorry I can't afford to paint over the umbrella my brother bought from Kyoto. If you are cursing the weapon's hair is not bombastic enough, I'm sorry we couldn't stick enough hair to it by that time. If you are counting the number of beads of the necklace like me, I'm sorry the collar covered most of it when i'm wearing it. But regarding the red lines on the sleeves, fans should know where there are and where there are not. In case you are wondering, yes, the drawers are pullable and the pendant is also a mirror.
For EOY, we painted and washed off and repainted several times for 4 hours trying to get the skintone we wanted...we painted nails but too exhausted and out of time to put them on. I couldn't fix out the knot i wanted for the obi red rope. I didn't even have the energy to bring put the medicine box and talismans from ringo's house when we finally left her place at 5pm after procrastination and nearly gave up. And we were actually very relunctant to have photos taken because we felt so incomplete.
For Comic Fiesta, i did a few alterations and also clear up the box. Bad thing is the box blocked the view of my obi ribbon. For your entertainment, you can take a peek at my work progress in my
skyblog album. Tthere are reasons for drafting the costume in that manner... album includes various event pix i plugged from various photographers (with credit as much as i can remember~).
This is NOT an entry to dismiss any comments about us. It's just speaking out from our hearts as we did as much as we could and how seriously we take our cosplay. For the sake of all fans of the series, if we really did stuff that's so unpermissable or so awfully wrong, tell us so we can work on it by the time we do a private shoot.
Yes, we'll love to see even better mononoke cosplays than us. We really do. All for the love for the series, babe. So I'll be expecting to see a medicine-seller next cosfest, one who vows to do so much much more accurate.
