Preparations

I was hired by the Orange County Department of Education (ACCESS Division)! I interviewed with the clinical director, Kalia, yesterday morning. She described the training program to me and I really really liked it. I'll be working with kids and teens who were removed from regular high schools and are in alternative programs. There is a wide spectrum of disorders that I'll be presented with, which will be really good training. And I'll be doing short-term CBT with them, which is more than likely what I want to do career-wise (unless I go completely over the edge, get my Ph.D and my clinical psychologist's license, and dive head first into long-term psychodynamic stuff... which would be pretty freakin rad by the way).

I have an interview on Monday, the 27th at Turning Point Center for Families. Even though I'm really happy with Dep. of Ed., I also really like this agency, so I figure it can't hurt to interview and check it out. And Pepperdine lets students acquire hours at more than one site, so as long as it isn't too much for me to handle, working at both places is a possibility. Dep. of Ed. is only 10 hours/week (2 5-hour shifts)... but I think Turning Point requires 15 hours/week minimum, so who knows if I'll be able to make it work. If I end up liking Turning Point better than Dep. of Ed. (and if they decide to hire me), then I'll just do that one. Also I think their website is super cute, haha.

I'm also done with finals now... but I can't even enjoy it because I've been sick as HELL for the last several days. I can't seem to shake it. I'm just completely fucking miserable. I'm thinking there's a good chance that my treacherous health might just get in the way of our Yosemite trip... which is supposed to start on Saturday. Just wonderful.
