Round 1
xraex21 - 1 - Threat
Glee: Quinn/Rachel

A small drop of sweat worked its way down Rachel’s forehead as she rounded the corner of her kitchen into her living room. She closed her eyes tightly and yelled warningly into the darkness, “Whoever is out there know that I have a very small but effective paring knife and I will stab you!”

Quinn laughed at her girlfriend’s antics and dropped her sleepover bag by the door. “Calm down Berry it’s just me.”

Unabashed Rachel fell onto the couch. “Oh well I thought you were a threat so I kind of already pushed the panic button in the kitchen.”

Round 2
xraex21 - 26 - Excite
Glee: Quinn/Rachel

“Why are you so excited again?”

“It’s Disney World Quinn! The birthplace of all joy and happiness in the world!”

“Rachel when you suggested that we take the kids here for vacation I thought it was about them.”

“It is about them! Don’t you want our children to experience the magic of innocence before life rips it away from them?”

“I’m cutting you off, no more reading attraction pamphlets. I think you’re actually vibrating.”

“If I am it is because the wondrousness of this place is seeping into my very being making me as magical as it is.”

“Oh God.”

Round 3
xraex21 - 5 - Glass
Glee: Quinn/Rachel

“Freddie, sweetie, please stop smooshing your face into the glass. Mommy doesn’t want to have to wash the window again.”

The little boy with light brown hair and big brown eyes never looked away from the window as he replied, “But Mama is coming home tonight and I wanna see her when she gets here!”

Quinn brushed off her flour-covered hands on her apron as she crossed the room to sit next to her son on the couch under the window. Swiping away his bangs she kissed his forehead and made a mental note to get him a haircut. “I know you miss Mama, but once she’s home she’s going to be home for a very long time.”

With a perfect pout Freddie continued to look out the window and whispered harshly, “That’s what you said last time.”

Pulling the boy into her she whispered back guiltily, “I know baby, I know. But your Mama needs something me and you can’t give her. She needs the lights of the stage to feel whole and we can’t ask her to give that up.”

Car lights burst through the window and like magic the gloom was gone, her boy was happy again.

Round 4
xraex21 - 21 - Solve
Glee: Quinn/Rachel

Rachel read the bottle again:

Melt Away - The weight loss pill to solve all your problems.

In the past she never would have stooped so low, but with the added pressure of no longer having Finn as her boyfriend she felt the need to step up her game. Unscrewing the cap she poured out three pills into her palm.

“Hey Man Hands!”

Rachel turned to see Quinn grabbing the bottle from her. The blonde’s brows dropped in confusion and then furrowed in anger. Knocking the pills out of Rachel’s hands, without a glare Quinn then threw away the bottle.

Round 5
xraex21 - 28 - Fragment
Glee: Quinn/Rachel

Nothing, that’s what Rachel Fabray-Berry felt as she stood in between her two sons. Behind her was a wall of black, hundreds dressed for the occasion. Decades on stage let her know that most of their tears were fake, that their sobs were forced in her honor and not her wife’s. None of these people really knew Quinn Fabray and no one knew her wife like she had.

In high school she had suffered under the blonde’s rule, in college she had suffered in longing for her touch, and in the real world she had been loved far greater than she could have ever acted on stage. Quinn had shown her reality when all she wanted to do was live in the drama of fantasy.

But now Quinn was gone and she was left alone, feeling only a fragment of what she had felt in her wife’s presence. The love from others never touching her the way Quinn’s had consumed her whole. Rachel worried she would never truly feel loved again. Their youngest clasped her right hand, squeezing lightly. Both boys were a reflection of their love, their lives together. Both were beautiful and strong, just as Quinn had been.
