My God it feels good to be me!!!!! Well, it feels good to be me minus fever, that is. What relief! Since my business trip to the Maritimes (which was awesome!) I felt something scratching at my throat. I was careful and treated myself nicely but I guess this cold just wanted to happen. On tuesday I felt that scratching would definately turn into a cold but I was so sure it would be a small one.....sheesh. On Wednesday morning I could just not get up. For three days I had high fever (up to 102.6 on thursday night). My head throbbed, by body ached like crazy, and if I stood up for more than 10 minutes, I got nausea. I arranged to have an osteopath treatment yesterday instead of next week, because I missed out on so much work. Turns out it was a very good thing to do. As my boyfriend works for my osteopath, we are more or less friends (though getting closer and closer as time goes by, naturally). Raph recently put together for them an infrared sauna in their basement. Sylvain, my osteopath, strongly suggested that I go in for half an hour. I really didn't want to go because I was overheating with fever, but I did. (Sylvain said it would boost my immune system). I actually sweat! (I never sweat...even during strenous excercise.) When I got out I stood up for a while talking to Sylvain's wife, Natalie. Typically, another wave of nausea hit and I had to go to bed right away. (Yuck, I didn't have the chance to shower after the sauna...at least I showered just before.) After comming out of the sauna, I was cold for the rest of the day. So yesterday night I took a long hot bath and went to bed. I felt so good, so at peace. I woke up several times during the night and realized that my back and the back of my head were sweaty. This morning I feel great! My temperature is at a healthy 97.5, my head and body aches are gone! Except for this morning, I haven't been coughing. So I'm pretty much left to blowing my nose and treating my raw looking face. Oh, and I still have a very husky voice :) It's like night and day. I can only imagine how I would feel if I had gone into the sauna the first day....
Sylvain said that people's immune systems get very weak during times of low atmospheric pressure. Currently, 2/3 of the US and part of Canada is under low pressure. This is why pretty much everyone under the sun over here has a cold. So now that most of this is over, I'm left with a few pounds less, an addiction to soup, and terrible guilt for not working most of this week, when there is SO much to be done. Stupid end of fiscal year.
