Florence may be a no go. SSC and Brighams both screwed me over so oh well. I find out next week if it's official. My boss at Brighams took off from March 19-22 because he thought I was going to be in town to work. I gave him a month's notice, but his plans were already finalized. No one else can do the opening monetary component besides my boss and me. So I can't have someone cover for me. Since I couldn't do Friday, I told him I'll work Saturday and Sunday, March 21st and 22nd. Originally I was suppose to leave the States on March 13th, which is a Friday. Somehow SSC/Durgan booked my flight for Saturday without telling me, which means I arrive back in the States on March 21st instead of the 20th. See the problem here. I don't really want "ditch" work just to go away to Italy, but then again the tickets are nonrefundable. I'm in a lose-lose situation. Obviously, I'm siding with my job. Everyone thinks I'm crazy that I'm not going. Well, my priority is the job right now, even if I have to loose $1,400. It blows but life it's full of smiley faces and flowers. I knew it sounded too good to be true.
On the other note, I had an interview with Wheeler's Frozen Desserts yesterday. It went well. They are looking for two to three marketing interns. Wheeler was very cool and laid back. He basically said that the internship caters to what hours you want since they open seven days a week. I can decide what disciples i want to focus on. He said if I wanted to do design, I can make postcard fliers for upcoming events. If I want to do event planning, I can plan events. I's suppose to be a learning experience, doing something that interests you. They do a lot of events in NYC, LA, etc. They even did the Grammy's and the Oscars. Wheeler said if I got the internship, I could travel around the country. Sounds pretty sweet. They are currently working on a couple of books, one to be released this summer. Before I spoke to Wheeler, one of the other interns let me see the mock up of the book. It was great. I mean how many companies let you look at the draft before actually meeting the owner or getting an internship/job? He said he might be able to pull some strings and get me a T pass too. Wheeler is looking for motivated individuals that will carry their weight in his team. He wants someone who doesn't need guiding all the time and can perform on their own. I hear back tomorrow whether I get the internship. There's about at least eight people fighting for the positions. One to two of the interns can possibly get a full time job after the internship.I think the internship runs from March to August. Wheeler said they mostly stay in Massachusetts during spring and the summer months, and travel to the West Coast for the colder months when it comes to events.
I hope for the best for everything.
