[OPEN LOG] Halloween

Oct 28, 2012 22:19

Halloween night sees the Academy grounds lit up with lights from hundreds of flickering jack-o-lanterns as they illuminate the paths through the gardens and maze. Inside the school, the largest (above ground) sports hall and games room have been decorated still further with streamers and multicoloured lights. In the latter location, a band stand ( Read more... )

Fuji's illusionary ghosts in the maze

If asked, Fuji would admit being pleased with his floor-length Grim Reaper costume for Halloween night. Not only did it give off all the most desirable vibes, it was easy to move in and ideal for hiding in shadowed bushes. The last of these was what Fuji was doing now; pressed against the high maze walls in one of the major intersections, he waited for his first victim.

"Come on," D'Artagnan urged his queen, "what's Halloween without a good scare. Let's go visit the Maze!"

"You really want to?" Niou asked not sure if his brave Muskateer would even get as far as Fuji's illusions before the other things set up in the maze would scare him away. But it would be fun to watch and Niou thought being clung to in fear would be sort of sexy so he knew he'd agree. Even though navigating the maze wouldn't be easy in his outfit. The French were not known for simple skirts and designs and while Niou was enjoying masquerading as the Queen of France with his lovely court, restricted movement was certainly a downside.

"Well, he's a friend of mine and a good friend of yours and it would be rude not to at least poke our heads in to say Hi," Atsushi said. "Besides...I'm sure it's not that scary...right?" he said, looking at Niou. Of course, scary on television was different than scary in real life. For one thing, in real life he could smell the difference...he hoped. As they approached the maze, slowly out of respect for Niou's costume, he wondered about that. Looking straight ahead, he concentrated a moment to allow his eyes to change to the lighter amber of his tiger form, the easier to see in the low light.

"If he says hi.... He might be too busy trying to scare us," Niou warned. And because he was a good friend of Fuji's and saw just a small example of what he planned for the maze, Niou couldn't lie and reassure Atsushi that it wouldn't be too scary. Knowing Fuji, it would be worse than expected.

As they walked, Niou looped one arm through Atsushi's, the other held up the front of his skirt so that he could walk without tripping on the hem. At least when Atsushi did get scared, he wouldn't have to go far to find a source of comfort. "So are you prepared to protect your queen?" Niou asked as they took their first steps into the maze.

"Of course," Atsushi said stalwartly. "At the first sign of danger, I shall wrap myself around you like armor, my queen," he continued with a hint of laughter in his voice. With his cat eyes he was able to see fairly well in the low light and made sure to guide Niou around any loose debris in their path.

Niou laughed, though it sounded much more like bird song than his typical laugh as his voice had been changed to match his feminine look as well. "Is that what we're calling it now?" He asked. But he appreciated that Atsushi could still joke about this. It meant that if his guard did become a scaredy cat, he probably wouldn't get too upset if he laughed at him.

Even without Atsushi's presence, Fuji would have recognised Niou. There was no failing in his disguise, it was due to the simple fact that no one else on campus could pull off a bust quite that blooming. And that included the girls.

Knowing that Niou would recognise the creation, a semi-transparent girl appeared in her nightdress, clutching a candle. Her hair hung in a mass of curls around her pale oval face. The top most lock looked suspiciously like a teletubbie antenna. She looked at the pair of them once and then glided away down one of the pathways.

"That's what I'm...." Atsushi stopped as the ghost of a girl appeared near them. His nose and ears told him she wasn't real, even as his eyes insisted she was. He stepped a little closer to Niou. "Not...quite armor worthy...right?" he asked more than stated. Right now his brain was telling him this was scary. Which was kind of fun, in a cling to your friend way. If it were more real, he might see it as a threat...and that wouldn't end well if his instincts, already on edge from being a tiger so long that afternoon, took charge.

Niou eyed the phantom girl's hair suspiciously, that one lock was a new addition and looked suspiciously like an atenna from a Teletubbie which meant that Fuji was poking fun at him. But Atsushi stepping in a little coser to him pulled his attention from the disappearing girl and to his 'brave' Muskateer. "Not yet," Niou said and moved a little further down the path but sure that he and Atsushi were still in Fuji's sights.

Fuji followed behind them, making sure to keep them in his sight but standing far enough back that the ghost girl would be the stronger lure and allow him to pass unnoticed. She led them around several bends in the hedges before turning sharply into an area surrounded by ghostly grave stones. The mist closed in...

... and so did Fuji, who crept up behind Niou and covered his eyes with his own hands, hoping Atsushi would be distracted enough not to throw him to the ground.

The maze was definitely spooky and Atsushi clung to his queen's arm, thoroughly protecting her...from getting cold, perhaps, something like that. It wasn't real, that much he knew, but he enjoyed the illusions for what they were. Which was quite clever of Fuji, Atsushi felt. The mist was a very nice touch and he was more than a little shivery. Perhaps this was the feeling that Ryou got when watching horror movies? A delighted fear ( ... )

Niou had been enjoying watching the ghost girl move about the maze with Atsushi clinging to him despite his 'protector' status. But just as they were nearing the center of the maze, he jumped a little as hands suddenly covered his eyes, not because he was truly frightened but because he had been expecting Fuji to go after Atsushi. And then there was a loud squeal and he was being jerked about in his heels on an uneven maze path by Atsushi who was still clinging to him. Niou let out his own (girly) yelp, that had nothing to do with the fright of the maze but in his sudden lost of stability and his inability to see anything to help him balance. He flailed out, one arm useless in Atsushi's hold, the other clinging onto fabric as he went crashing into Atsushi and they both tumbled and he rather suspected Fuji had come down with him if the weight on his back was anything to judge by. Either that or Fuji had fallen over from laughing so hard.

(You're getting dragged down into this, too Fuji~)

Fuji wasn't sure whether Atsushi had been able to detect him moving through the mist, but he certainly wasn't prepared for him leaping on Niou and being yanked off balance as the Queen gave way.

It was pretty funny.

Landing in a pile of soft skirts and warm bodies, Fuji did laugh, the illusions vanishing as his concentration broke and leaving them lying in a pumpkin lit maze, entirely ghost free.

"This problem was not well recorded in the 17th century," he managed to say, struggling to find the edges of his hood which had fallen low of his face.

Giggling at the very undignified heap they made, Atsushi waited for the other two to get off of him before he tried to get up. He looked around, since he had the time and noticed that the maze was far less spooky now. "Oh, were you doing the mist also?" he asked. "That was incredible. You do good work," he said, complimenting Fuji. "If I could stand, I would bow at your ability," he said with a grin.

Mindful of which parts belonged to whom, Atsushi limited himself to "accidentally" groping the queen twice and not laying hands on Fuji at all as he hadn't been invited to.
