our good sister of temperance wisemonkey came by The Decency League this afternoon, bringing with her a lovely bottle of Bulleit to ad to the stash. in her honour, and in an attempt to find a use for this absurd bottle of Cecilia chardonnay grappa circa 1978, we created this:
The CeLe
30ml grappa
30ml triple sec
1 T honey syrup
orange wedge for garnish
add that stuff and shake the hell out of it. serve over ice.
grappa, for those of you that dont know, is a cheap brandy that Italian wineries make with the leftover grapes. it generally runs the gamut from terrible to lighter fluid. you dont scare easily if youre going to drink it. i keep telling bbstenniz that, by grappa standards, this particular bottle that he unearthed from the crypt is actually quite good. its just that it looks like a bottle of Scope or something.
this particular drink was quite pleasant, actually. i made one for her and then one for myself, and we were both pleased with it.
well known barfly bbstenniz also popped in for a few as well. we were more into the darker, heavier stuff today in keeping with winter weather - ryes and whiskeys, cognac, Gran Classico, etc. we were all pleasantly toasty by the time we headed to SF95.
aah, i should throw in a honey syrup recipe here as well:
Honey Syrup
2 C water
1/2 C honey
SPLOOP! of vanilla
bring to a rolling boil until the honey is dissolved.
